Creation Kit not launching - missing steam_api.dll

Skyrim creation kit is not showing up in my library. It does show up on my steam icon.

I have a legal game, it has been verified, the game has no problems loading. I restarted my PC. Under Library it shows CK is loaded. it is marked run as administrator. When maually launched, it just gives the error

I continue to get steam_api.dll is missing. I have never used this kit before and now it wont even let me delete it as its not in my library. Any one out there know of a solution?

It's located under Library > Tools > Skyrim Creation Kit.

Make sure it's installed in the same location as Skyrim, as well.

Thank you for replying :) I tihnk it installed to my SSD where FO4 is located and not Drice C: where Skyrim is. I'll see if i can del it from the Library thingy then re-install it.

i dont see it, so i tried to get it from bathisda and it needs the api64 and i dont have it, also for some reason my Skyrim sse installed the 32bit not the 64bit yet i am on win 10 64bit

There is no Skyrim SE that is 32 bit, only oldrim is 32 bit

hmm ok, i still cant get the bethesda creation kit going, and non on steam, its weird

The Special Edition's Creation Kit is only available from the Bethesda Launcher.

Have you asked about your issue on the Bethesda forum? It's not the best, but people there should be more helpful. Alternatively, you can ask in the SE forum on Steam.

So I downloaded the version of Creation Kit offered by Steam and it wouldn't work. Ended up having to download the Creation Kit from the Bethesda Launcher. Added the program it installed to my Steam library and uninstalled Bethesda Launcher. Hope this helps.
