Can you improve silver weapons - What perk is needed?

Just finished Companion quest with silverhand - have silver ingot but can't improve silver weapons? No Silver smithing on perk tree like steel.

Not unless you mod for it, silver weapons in vanilla game are unimprovable.

You should be using the Unofficial Patch, it is one of the numerous things that have been fixed by it.

Thats what I was afraid of...When I read in other posts that you could improve silver weapons with silver ingots- they didn't mention mods. I'm trying it Vanilla except for Convenient horses V which I'm loving so far.

Unofficial Patch??? Where is it found? How do you patch it (when found) and what does it do besides allow silver upgrading. Any Downside? Don't want more crashes as I'm dealing with crashing to Windows (10) periodically, which I recover by clicking on Steam icon on bar then hitting windows button twice. Then to get rid of the extra cursor save game,exit then start game again with continue.

Unofficial Patch is USLEEP, it fixes all sorts, it's a mod so workshop or nexus is where to look, Nexus is actually safer, but you need to register (just select no payment option when you do)

Thanks, I'll see if I can find it and maybe consider subscribing to another mod since Convenient Horses are doing so good.

I think I found it in workshop but it doesn't say anything about silver upgrading although its probably in the patch. However, I'm new to this mod thing and the instructions say to make sure its loaded immediately after the DLC's and suggests using LOOT(loot.github.io).

I don't have slightest idea on LOOT, whats a github.io, or how u would use it.

I have one mod now, Convenient Horses. What happens if I subsribe to USLEEP and it comes after Conv Horses? Will it? Will it even show up there in data files? Will it matter? and how would I correct orrder if necessary?

Thanks, WoW Just started watching the first youtube, on pause now 20 min long. Looks like this might answer my questions on LOOT. So far after 20 minutes in first video I'm thinking of just subscribing USLEEP and let it load where it wants and see what happens before going through all that LOOT looks like. Seems like I can do LOOT later.

If you only a few mods, you probably dont need LOOT. But once you HAVE a few mods, you will want more. And more. And more. So LOOT is a good idea. :D

convenient horses does not over write any of the USLEEP files but the sooner you learn how to use LOOT the better. once you learn it takes 2 minutes and 3 clicks of the mouse to run. it really is very simple but at first glance it may seem intimidating.

Well, I did it. Subscribed to USLEEP on workshop. See it loaded last after Conv Horses but still looks good. Had 1 silver ingot and 1 silver sword and it worked! I could upgrade it!!! Now I'll go back and get the rest of the loot from the silverhand quest.
