Irileth bug ?
So I've been trying to fix this bug by myself for awhile now, trying different things and looking at different forums, but nothing seems to work. The bug is when I am coming back from Bleak Falls Barrow, and when I give the Dragonstone to Farengar, nothing happens. I've played many times before so I know that after I give it to him Irileth is suppose to appear and tell us of a dragon attacking the Western Watchtower, but that never happens. She simply doesn't appear.

So since I want to be as clear as possible, I'll list of all of the things I've tried. I've tried waiting in different incriments of time, and she still never shows up. I've tried console commands such as setstage, but when I try that simply nothing happens. I've run down to the Western Watchtower to see if the dragon is already attacking but he's not. I've tried spawning to Irileth, using player.moveto command, but I spawn where she SHOULD be, but she's not. I also read in a different forum that mods affecting Lydia shoudl be removed until after the dragon attack, so I unistalled the two mods that could possibly affect Lydia, which were Follower Commentary Overhaul, and Relationship Dialogue Overhaul. But still nothing.

I simply don't know what to do at this point. Should I restart my game with no mods, and then add all the mods I want after the dragon attack? Should I restart the game without those two mods that affected Lydia? Please someone help me, for I've been trying to fix this on my own for about 2 months. I've restarted my game many times, for I can't continue without this quest.

So I tried your solution, but it seems it has lead me to yet another problem. When I remove dragonborn and try to start up the game, it simply won't start. The bethesda logo will show, but after that the game crashes. Is it because I purchased the legendary version of the game, and it won't let me remove Dragonborn? Regardless, I can't use your solution because the game won't let me remove Dragonborn. Thank you for the help though.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dragon_Rising Did you try the bug fixes there? I consistantly have an issue when becoming a Nightingale, and usually have to try a variation of the bug fixes before it works right. You may have to do the same. Even though, for my issue, the prior quest did complete correctly, i used a console command to "complete" it a second time, then ran the other bug fixes. It eventually worked. Hopefully some tinkering will also get yours going. Couldn't hurt to find out if you can purge the known mods that interfere with Lydia, and may be compounding the issue.

Yes that's perfectly fine. Irileth remains "disabled" until the Dragon Rising triggers, and this is okay.

So there are possibilities
1) Not So Fast - Main Quest mod.
2) quest form MQ104 does not start at all - you can see if this is the case with "setstage MQ104 10" and "sqs MQ104" console commands
3) something else

I think I may be doing something wrong regarding the setstage commands. Whenever I do them, simply nothing happens. I type in SetStage MQ104 10 after I talk to Farengar and hand him the stone, but nothing occurs. Should I try doing it before I talk to Farengar, or should I try something else? Just FYI, I have also tried setstage 13, 40, and 65, after looking up on the wiki that those were certain crucial points in the quest. Please tell me if I am doing something wrong.

If after that "sqs MQ104" shows you always 0, and "showquestaliases MQ104" shows you all NONE. then the quest form MQ104 fails to start, and this is most likely because one of the aliases cannot be filled. Irileth is an alias but she has "allow disabled" ticked, so it's not her. You'd have to open it in Creation Kit for the full specification of these aliases, but you can look at names produced by "showquestaliases MQ104" to get the idea what other NPCs might be involved.

Okay, i had this same issue and tried ALL the different solutions provided in varios forums but none worked. Turns out it was an issue with me killing 2 of the jarl's kids (apparently). I loaded a previous save before giving the dragonstone to the mage and resurrected both kids, then went out of dragonsreach and enabled Ilireth "prid 1a67f" then "enable" and "moveto player". After that i entered Dragonreach again, gave the Dragonstone to the mage and Dragon Rising quest started right up.

SOLVED: Faced the same problem, Ayrilet activation did not help. It turned out that it was the missing Khrongar. He turned himself off too. I called him to life through the console (his id 0001A678). I entered prid 0001A678 in the console, then enable and then moveto player.
