Skyrim shadow glitch...
I run Skyrim on low settings, with low shadows. And whenever shadows move from one position to another, this happens...sometimes its more severe or less severe than this, but its a problem for me, concidering I'm a big fan of immersion.

Does anyone know how I could fix this? would highering shadow quality fix it?

That's normal. However, you may be able to make it less noticeable. See:

smr, Thanks.....I'll try that out. I just found out about something though, the Shadow Striping Fix mod...

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27418/?tab=2&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D27418&pUp=1

I'll try out that mod, and if it doesn't work, ill look into doing it manually.
smr1957 Oct 1, 2017 @ 4:51pm
I have that mod installed as well - it is useful, but only fixes the shadow striping in certain areas; the striping effect that you posted is not touched by that mod.
BLEK Oct 1, 2017 @ 6:14pm
So, getting the mod and changing it manually are recommended?
smr1957 Oct 1, 2017 @ 7:06pm
Yes - the mod will fix the areas listed on its description page (I believe it modifies the light sources), and cfs' guide should help regardless of where the striping occurs (though you way still have some striping).

In the end, some amount of shadow striping effects may be something that you have to live with.

Blek.
Have you fixed your left side in MO yet?
You did post it on one tread.
BLEK Oct 1, 2017 @ 8:29pm
smr, okay, thanks. I know everything I need to know about that...but when attempting to change the needed texts manually, something came up. I have two questions,

When I go into my SkyrimPrefs folder, and I look for iShadowMapResoloution should be, it shows this instead

iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048

is this normal? how do I edit these? do I edit both of them to what I would want iShadowMapResoloution to be, do I only edit one of them?

and one more...

The main thing I need to change to fix or help the problem is fShadowBiasScale, I need to set it to 1. But I can't find it in my SkyrimPrefs, should I just type it in? and if so, where in SkyrimPrefs should I type it in at?

*BTW Thank you for being such a big help, it means a lot*

Uncle64, what post? sorry, I'm not sure what post you're talking about. Could you link it please?

This post from this tread.

Your left side is wrong, you have FCO and RDO that are not that compatible.
If you want to use them you need to have RDO after FCO.

All mods that have one + sign is used in the load. Correct left side is almost more important then correct right side.

Epic Murph,

Yes. Make a test person.

I recommend you use Mod Organiser, NOT Nexus Mod Manager.

"3. Are there any mods that lessen the amount of bandit/vampire attacks on the road, or at least one that makes the encounters more random? I hated always getting attacked between the Orc Settlement and Riften by the same respawning bandits."

To lessen to the repetitiveness of bandit attacks and such, I would recommend the AI overhaul mod, Populated Lands, Roads, Paths, and Immersive Patrols. These mods WILL make create more encounters with bandits, but there will be MANY MANY MANY more types of bandits, not always the same type.

4. What is one useful tip you could share with me before I start heavily modding skyrim?

Well....it will take time and organization to get what you want, a redone, organized modlist, and it will take time to get to know your Mod organiser. Again I would recommend Mod Organiser over NMM because it makes things simpler, easier, and it has SO many more useful features.

Here is my heavily modded Skyrim mod list...

(That is NOT the order, and a few of those mods I am not currently using because they overwrite too many things, but I use 9/10 of those mods)

With all those mods installed....there is alot of useful things that should have been in the game to begin with, new lands, quests, items, new performance friendly graphics mods, etc

Just about eveything is changed with that load order.

Anyway, good luck modding Skyrim.

Uncle64, wait....Does RDO also have more follower lines of dialogue? if it does then I don't need FCO

Yes, and RDO makes FCO obsolete.

But since you have it in your load already it is not that easy.

You also have other issues you must fix.
BLEK Oct 2, 2017 @ 8:07pm
Uncle64, I have experienced no glitches, flaws, bugs etc other than the shadow glitch this page is about. I don't have any problems with my load order. That being said, since RDO adds lines to followers, ill uninstall FCO :)

*BTW my only follower is INIGO, a mod follower. So I am not using vanilla followers anyway*

Uncle64, smr, I'm going to make another thread about how to fix shadow flaking, there could be someone who knows a direct and easier fix. Smr, I have followed all the steps in http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:SkyrimPrefs_INI/Display#bDeferredShadows and it has improved, but its not fixed.

*BTW I'm making the new thread so that someone else that maybe knows how to fix it can comment, I'm not leaving this one*
