set playerfollowercount to 0
click on the follower, type disable. Poof. (if you want the creature to still exist try enable immediately after, maybe it'll fix itself)
It is generally stupid to disable anyone npc.
You can use disable whit the command enable for resetting one messed npc.
There are some small nice mods that fixes up the dialogs.

No, I have no mods, unless you comsider the grapchics pack from the DLC stuff. I'll check out the mods you have listed. I've never really messed with mods. I'm more of a hardware guy. I build the racecar and someone else has to drive it. I keep seeing "console" mentioned of which I remember from waaaaay back in the day.
