A trouble with Constance Michel
I’ve bought a Lakeside Manor and almost finished the process of building (don’t have all wings). Also I have added three beds on the second floor (one for the character and his spouse and the other two for a steward and a child). Nevertheless, I can’t adopt a child from Honorhall Orphanage - during the dialogue with Constance Michel the character says, that the child will have no place for living.
Should I build a separate bedroom wing to be able to do it?

Check the room with two beds, are there two chest in the room? Also, do you have a Bard at the Manor? If you have a Bard and Steward then you have no beds available for a child.

No, I don’t have a bard and won’t have it. But I haven’t thought about chests, I will try to add them. Thank you for idea

Build a wing on the ground level with two child beds and a double bed...strictly for children....that's how it goes. Sorry to say that but that's how it is.

Are you sure? It has been a long while since I adopted in a playthrough that I don't remember very well, I was sure that the wing was not really needed.

Now that I think of it, I think the dressers in the room counted as chest. Going to check the Wiki, let you know what I find.

Here is the skinny:

If you have Hearthfire installed, you can adopt up to two children in Skyrim. You do not have to be married to adopt. Children can only be adopted if you have a child's bedroom in your house or extra beds and containers in your self-built houses. Once you have adopted a child, they will live in your house and call you Papa or Mama. You may have various interactions with your children, such as playing games, giving gifts, and asking them to do some chores. They will also have some unique activities, such as keeping a pet, giving you a gift, asking you for an allowance, and playing games with other children in the city. Giving gifts or allowances to your children will grant you the Gift of Charity bonus. If you sleep in the same house as your children, you receive the Mother's Love or Father's Love bonus (unless you are a werewolf), which makes healing spells and potions more effective.

It's not clear if the underlined part is refering to the Family Wing or not.

@Papajack may have the right of it.

That's been the only way I could adopt any children myself. I have tried many different ways, but found you have to have a children's wing so they can have a plave to sleep. Your follower can sleep in the beds upstairs and the bard and steward sleep in the double in the double in the children's room unless you sleep the alone, or with your lover/mistress/wife/husband/orgay/lesbian lover, whoich way and however you do it.
