you might need the smithing perk and then you can buy the ebony bars and daedric hearts and smith it.

not sure If i've ever found it in the base game.

To find Daedric items, you must be at least level 38.

Rather answer that way - indeed you can get it with smithing, but that needs smithing 100 and without Hearthfire that can be a pain ;)

You need smithing 90, not 100. It can be done with the transformation spell to turn iron to silver then gold, then create gold rings. Enchanting the rings give you more money for more ingots. But it is time consuming.

The armor can be found on base game but in difficult quest lines and there pretty well hidden.

> 90 conjuration

...Isn't that just as hard, if not worse?

Smithing your own ♥♥♥♥ is better anyway.

Generally I just get dwarven smithing, and go to markath ruins, I pull the various dwemer metal out of the ruins and run it thru the smelter to make ore.

then I craft and sharpen Dwarven Bows.

Smithing levels rather quickly.

Oh, gods. Dwarven ingots. I have more dwarven ingots than moonsugar. And I installed a mod to grow moonsugar in the BYOH gardens. And built gardens and greenhouses in all three houses. And installed another mod to make the gardens bigger.

Yeah, I second the gold rings and dwarven bows advice. Experience is based on the value of items crafted or tempered, so the bows will be faster than rings, nails, and locks.

As for conjuration... I seem to recall conjuration spells giving very poor experience, and none at all if the creatures don't engage in combat. Even with enchantments for free conjuration spells, smithing is almost certainly faster.

I'm not a big fan of daedric, though. If you have enough skill to make daedric armor, you probably have enough skill to hit the armor cap with elven. 569 armor rating is easy to reach with fortify smithing enchantments and potions.

for some people, the look is more important than the raw stats
and you can easily get to the armor cap in vanilla skyrim ;)
