Skyrim: Requiem Overhaul too difficult?!
Hello Guys, so I am now playing Skyrim with the Requiem Overhaul Mod for about 70h. I still am unable to get the Dragonstone Plate for the Jarls Wizard in Whiterun... I do not know If I do something wrong or if something is messed up with my mod. At the End of The Dungeon where the Dragonshout Wall is, instead of zero Draugr, there are now like 8 or more Draugr! That is completly fine if Draugr weren't so tough! I barely cannot kill 1 alone! My Follower isn't that good either, I got the lady from Whiterun you can get by winning a brawl with her.

I am currently wearing Heavy Armor with a Total of 633 Defense (shield Included). I am usually playing in light armor but if I would go in light armor against a Draugr, they would insta-kill me. My Follower goes down pretty fast aswell. :steamsad:
I also deal now damage to Draugr since my Stamina gets depleted after 3-4 swings with my Orcish Mace.

These are my Stats:

Level: 19
HP: 220
Magicka: 140
Stamina: 110

Smithing :61
Heavy Armor: 28
Block: 14
Two-Handed: 5
One-Handed: 28
Marksmanship: 29

Evasion: 32
Sneak: 40
Lockpicking: 23
Pickpocket: 15
Speech: 24
Alchemy: 34

Illusion: 10
Conjuration 20
Destruction: 5
Restoration: 28
Alteration: 11
Enchanting: 5

I started the game in mind that I want to play an Illusion Assassin but the 2 Illusion spells the game gave me at start didn't to much. I got a skill which should befriend enemies for 44 seconds but it only works on wolves and stuff and the other spell should make them run away and this skill only works on small enemies aswell. so I kinda gave up on the idea for now.
And the other skills I bought I cannot cast since I dont have enough Magicka to begin with.

Note: At first I put points in Stamina because I thought Stamina would give me more Carryweight like in the vanilla version but that is not the case in requiem. Health gives you Carryweight instead. Also, bows do not work against Draugr, atleast not without the right perk which I can get if my marksmanship is at level 50 (or was it sneak).

Oh, I also can summon The Spectral assassin (forgot his name but it is the speaker from the brotherhood in Oblivion). He goes down in a couple of hits aswell.

I tried the following: Using potions to keep Stamina and health up but my potions Suck so they are useless, Poision doenst do much either. I used Scrolls like Chaining Thunder wich does no real damage to Draugr but kills my allies, Conjure Flame Atronach scroll, also does not work since Draugr ignore it and go right after me.

Do you guys maybe have another Strategy I could try? Reason why I am doing this quest is because I really need the house In Whiterun. I already have the Lakeview house but I really dont trust everything Hearthfire related stuff so I only have a chest in there to store my stuff, (Hearthfire is already glitching out anyway since my Housecarl Rayya seems not to be in the game anymore)

At this point I for me see only one option: Try to kill one or 2 Draugr at best, getting an alternate death sequence, after that and more ours of gameplay get back at the Draugrs and repeat. Sometimes I just reload If I die although I dont want to do that but I need to since I dont want to wait 20+ more hours to finally get the home in whiterun since I am so afraid that my hearthfire house completly glitches out!(Happend to me on the ps3 version where I could not get near my house or the game would freeze).

Lots of things made the PS3 version freeze - it's the least stable version of Skyrim by a long shot. You shouldn't expect any stability issues relating to Hearthfire homes with the PC version, certainly not if you're running the unofficial patches.

I won't pretend to have any experience with Requiem's difficulty, so I'll just link you to the list of tips here:

Yeah, the PC verison should be fine to play Hearthfire, I haven't had any problem with it even with mods relating to it. Not sure what happened to your housecarl though, but could happen to anyone (I lost Lydia on one savefile, used the console to get her back and made her take care of one house.. She disappeared again)..

Can't really say much to help though, unless you turned the difficult down to Novice, or got a mod that doesn't force a reload (I have SM_Essential Player, so I still fall for a bit, but don't reload, because that's annoying, can still take a bit to kill enemies, but the job gets done). Could also download other mods that may allow you to recruit others, or even custom followers (They can be somewhat easy to make on the CK too)

Thank you guys. I cleared the dungeon yesterday and it was a pain in the butt! I lured one by one into the traps and got them killed by that. Now I have Lydia as a follower and I am on my mission to get the horn of jurgen windcaller and I got some spells but oh boy I cannot go against Bandits in light armor. They killed me yet again and I am now 21. Thank god my game crashed so the alternate death was not triggered if it would I had to retrieve my gear yet again. I think I am playing Requiem all wrong.

oh, so fun to read if someone is new to requiem :D (don't worry, it was hard for everyone in the beginning)
you have to play requiem different than vanilla skyrim, just charging into enemies is your death in 90% of the time
remember to use armor piercing (hammers, ebony and daedric metal) or silver weapons against undead, it's much easier

requiem is very clean in terms of bugs.. if you encountered bugs, it's mostly caused by other mods

edit: to the alchemy part: without a single point in alchemy, your potions are basically useless
but with alchemy.. oh boy :D

Yeah, I dont charge Into enemies anymore, I learned that the hard way :D As I said I did manage to do the dungeon after several tries. I lured them one by one into the traps. I also managed to get the horn of jurgen windcaller. I put a point in destruction and bought myself the cheapest fire spell. It works but it is still tough. I Thank god I had Lydia, Thornir ( who just would not go away) and Lucien the Spectral Assassin with me. I also spent On or two points in alchemie and I am able to hurt Draugr with the Crossbow and with silver bolts. I finally found a weapon with a fire enchantment and craftet a silver sword just in Case. I also have the Club ob Molag Bal now, which should be useful. I also spent a point in enchantment and I think I should enchant more of my stuff instead of using either the steel plate armor or a mix of thieves guild and brotherhood armor..

If I would use hammers now, I think I would suck because my two handed is lvl 5. Maybe I should go level up that aswell.

I have not had any issues with Hearthfire, I use 'Requiem 1.9.4 Patch Central' not the RequiemHF mod.

And yes you need to think carefully about what you do, and often you just have to accept you are not strong enough yet for a particular quest.

For instance, I have had no college of Winterhold service for ages as killing multiple dragon priests in Labarythian was just too much for my character. What was worse I had Brelyna as a Steward :(

If the extra challenge is too much just go back to vanilla.

The main problem with Requiem seems to be that to do some quests your character needs to be virtually a God, however, if they are that strong the rest of the game becomes trivial. Assuming of course you think that is a problem.

well, i think it's about the oppinion - you have to work hard to get to this OP status

why do you want to play a roleplaying-mod (thats what requiem is about) just to cheat your way through?

My Alchamy/Desctruction character got to Godhood quite quickly with little hussle. My B&S+HA and my Archer are finding it much tougher going.

I am now level 26 and Close to finishing the dark brotherhood :D I dont want to go back to vanilla because I really like requiem. My Smithing is also lv90 but when I reach 100 I will keep it there until I made the best possible armor. I am now trying to get better at enchanting. Oh, also Silver swords really worked very good against Draugrs. I am not that Afraid of them anymore. They went down quite fast but I still would not dare to go in a Draugr infested dungeon alone.

I also think I got another bug or maybe I am just impatient, but I Killed the Wounded Dragon for Balgruuf and it seems that the Dragon encounters have not driggered, nor does the Dragonborn questline....

One part of Requiem - the one that's important here - adds weaknesses and strengths to enemies. It does a pretty good job at explaining most of them. You'll want a specific book: Bestiary of Skyrim. One can find it in Helgen, I have also seen it in the College. Anyway, a dead body that's animated by magic will not just drop because you shot it in the arm with an arrow - you need to burn or heavily injure it. Draugr are tough, but they have weaknesses to fire and silver. Also, you won't get far with a mace, you'll need bladed weapons for that. Many things in Requiem require preparation and proper equipment. Again: Bestiary of Skyrim. I am a little late to the discussion, and you probably had enough time to figure out all of this yourself, but it was fun to write. And there is a slight chance I could help.
