Carriage driver not working HELP
When I try taking the carriage, all the driver says is: "Yes?" or "Need something?" and etc.

Things I've tried:
-Disabling ALL mods
-Checking game cache
-Killing and resurrecting the driver.

Is there a way to reset their dialogue? Please, I need help, I'm doing a non fast travel playthrough and so I need to use the carriage a lot.

Are you overloaded? The carriage will not work if you are carrying more than your limit
Turi Aug 25, 2017 @ 6:34am
No, I'm not overloaded. Also, even if I was, the driver would still engage in dialogue, he just wouldn't start riding once I got on the carriage.

Ok then I would guess it is a bad script baked into your save file

added: Did you have any mods that added carriages to more cities and towns? could be a script from it

Yeah, I added Touring carriages, but even after removing that, I still had the glitch.

if it had scripts, and you made a save with it active that save and all others made from that save has the script as part of your save file, removing the script does not remove its scripts from your saves

I think there is a save file cleaner for skyrim, I know nothing about it and have never used it, you might want to check nexus though

ok thanks, i'm gonna try it out and update you on if it works.

hmm, no. Even when cleaning all the saves, the driver still doesn't want to talk to me.

(correction: not all save files, just my most recent one)

Are you using a mod to block you from fast-traveling? If so maybe the mod is blocking the carriage as well.

hmm, im gonna try that. Im also gonna try a downloaded save to see if it's just my playthrough that's corrupt.

Oh well, I guess it is just my save file. Only way to fix it is by starting again. Time to redo everything. :(

Just a note. Save Cleaner will not fix a save. It is only for use when updating mods. Complete info:

From Arthmoor:
"3. There is no such thing as a clean save. It does not matter who tells you there is, it doesn't exist in Skyrim. You cannot remove any mod, not even the patch, without there being some data that's been permanently changed. Doing this repeatedly WILL damage your save and WILL eventually lead to it becoming corrupt and unusable. Bethesda's own developers have confirmed the only way to properly remove a mod is to load a save made BEFORE that mod was introduced into the game. If you started a new game with 10 mods installed, you're going to be stuck with those 10 forever."

and Ilja:

"You can't remove mods from ongoing game. Skyrim bakes script data to save file. There is no such thing as a clean save, when mod is removed. "Clean save" is for mod updates only. This includes work done with Save Script Cleaner. That tool cleans obsolete entries and orphaned scripts from the game, but script data will remain in the save file, causing Papryus to constantly check it and creating errors.

If you removed scripted mods from ongoing game, then you will have to start a new game." - Ilja

"You can't uninstall most mods from ongoing game. Skyrim bakes script data to save files and unisntalling the mod does not remove it. It only causes errors in Papyrus scripting system.

Even if mod does not use any scripts, it's changes would need to be subjects of Skyrim vanilla respawn/refresh system." - Ilja

Your options are:
1) continue with the mod in place (NOT an option if the mod is actively breaking or bugging the game)
2) load a save made before the removed mod was installed
3) start a new game

Pure mesh/texture replacment mods are safe to remove. So are mods using vanilla assets and vanilla spawns.

Yeah, I started a new game. :/
