What do I do with my Hammer ??

Early on in my Skyrim adventure, I came across a hammer in one of the dungeons but so far I've yet to find a proper use for it in-game.

I've hammered in the morning, I've hammered in the evening, I've tried hammering all over this land. I've hammered out danger,, I've hammered out a warning,
Eventually I resorted to hammering out love between my brothers and my sisters,
So far nothing has worked ... anyone got any ideas ???

You don't do anything with it, it's just loot. And worthless loot at that. For what you would get for it from a merchant, it's not worth the weight of lugging it around.
