Exclamation Mark for Dragons

I played Skyrim again after a long time and suddenly I realised that dragons are not shown at all. Instead, a moving white exclamation mark in a red box is shown which is really annoying. I never installed any mods to the game except for the High Resolution Texture pack.

I deleted the game via windows unistaller menu but this did not resolve the problem. I now deleted the "Data" folder and waiting for it to re-download. Any other suggestions or similar experiences and solutions?

Deleted it via windows unistaller why did you not do it via steam?

Have you tried just verifying the game files instead of uninstalling the game?

I verified the game files and 1 file was missing (742kb only though) - however the problem was not resolved.

Alright...another question:

Did you try starting a new game? Once you escaped helgen you can try spawning in a dragon with console commands. (Or does this happen for Alduin aswell? )

Those indicate a missing mesh. Your dragons are not installed properly, or your BSA file is corrupted.
