nexus mod manager not opening FOMOD menus
Recently been slowly rebuilding my modded skyrim on a new computer, using nexus mod manager and pretty often I've noticed that it isn't opening up FOMOD menus for mods such as Scoped bows or Amidianborn's texture packs or unique uniques. It gives me the checkmark and says it's installed, but never lets me pick any of the options that I know are available in the FOMOD. Anyone know why this is happening?

Try manually downloading the mods. On mod's file page, select Manual download and then save to where Nexus stores it's mods (usually OS(C:) Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim/Mods). Then open Mod Manager, and the game should appear in the list (if Mod Manager was already open while doing this, you will probably have to close and then reopen it for the mod to appear).

I always download manually so I can save a copy in an external drive in case the mod author removes the mod, never actually tried the "download with manager" button

Well, maybe try that! (Usually, I find that sometimes when downloading with Manager, larger file get messed up, and a manual download is necessary. But since you've been doing the manual, heck, give the download with manager a shot. Keep us informed as to how it goes.)

this is a very recent issue though, never had it before. it's really starting to piss me off, becoming a hassle and I'm concerned that some of the mods are installing the wrong options/not installing properly. is it possible that NMM is remembering my choices from a previous installation of the mod? (I've been untinstalling/reinstalling a bunch of stuff to test a few things)

Could very well be. The new 0.6.0 series of NMM has a virtual file, and it could be that it is just reloading according to what was originally loaded however long ago. Copy the mod to another folder, and do a complete uninstall (so that the mod is totally removed) then transfer the file back to NMM and do a fresh install, You may also want to do a search in to see if any copies are still located somewhere in NMM or Skyrim Data files (sometimes, even with a complete uninstall, the .esp will not be removed from the Skyrim Data file).

where would I find the virtual file/is there a way for me to check if it is remembering stuff? and if by "complete uninstall" you mean the "delete mod pernanetly and uninstall" option, that's what I've been doing already as well

Should be in OS(C:) Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim/Mods - look for VirtualInstall folder. Virtuallly installed Mod files should be listed in there

As I said, though, check the game folder, Syrim/Data to make sure that the mod's .esp and .bsa (if it has one), has also been removed during uninstall. If not, just delete the appropriate files.

I did a clean install of skyrim before the current test iteration

Now you got me wondering! I've had problems with mods nod properly uninstalling, and copies remaining in the Virtual folder, but alwayed managed to get the problems corrected by doing what I said (and what it seems you've been doing). Only thing I can think of is to do a search on your PC (listing the name of the mod) and see if anything comes up anywhere that belongs to that mod.

well installing a mod, finding out the fomod won't open, than deleting/uninstalling the mod and reinstalling it is getting the fomod to popup, but really trying to figure out a way to just get the fomod to popup in the first place. wasn't having this issue in my previous test iteration (the installation of the game I had running before the aforementioned current test iteration)

To me, that sounds like a problem with the downloaded file (corrupted during download or whatever) which is why I made my earlier suggestions. I get the feeling that you might have been thinking along those lines as well. Another possiblilty si that NMM is just not funtioning correctly - and maybe needs to be reinstalled. Unfortunately, at this point, I'm just sort of flailing alway, as I've never had to really deal with a persistent problem of this nature.

I know it's not a corrupted download since in the previous iteration of my skyrim install on the new computer, I used the same files and the fomods worked fine. does it maybe have something to do with me having multiple profiles and NMM has suddenly decided to use the options I picked for mods in a previous profile in the new install/new profile?

ahhh troubleshooting, what a wonderful time

if I just reinstall NMM, that won't screw up the mods I already have installed and it'll just detect those already installed mods when I start it up, right?

"does it maybe have something to do with me having multiple profiles and NMM has suddenly decided to use the options I picked for mods in a previous profile in the new install/new profile?"

I've had problems with NMM's profile system, and don't use it - was installing wrong mods (from another profile - not the one I wanted - so I abandoned using the profile system; Mod Organizer is a better manager for multiple profiles)

"if I just reinstall NMM, that won't screw up the mods I already have installed and it'll just detect those already installed mods when I start it up, right?"

That's what should happen. The times I've reinstalled NMM it did - but I also made a copy of the Mod folder, just in case.

so I just tried installing immerisave citizens AI overhaul (had it in the previous skyrim iteration on the new comp.) and it picked the right version it seems based on the ESP and BSA sizes. So I guess maybe NMM is remembering previous installation choices? but I wonder why it didn't do this before... I've done mutliple clean installations of skyrim in the past couple weeks on my new comp. to test a bunch of stuff and the current iteration is the only time this fomod issue has come up
