Keyboard Controls not working anymore?
I recently reinstalled Skyrim after a playing Special Edition, and missing my lovely mods, I went back to "the good one". Unfortunately for me, "the good one" had decided to stop reading my keyboard controls. Entirely. No imput from my keyboard was accepted. Modded, Vanilla, Patches, bug mashers, Loot, TES5edit, nothing seems to matter.

I understand this is a common problem when downgrading, and none of the other methods to fix this issue have seemed to work for me. Any suggestions?

UPDATE - SOLUTION: I went into the SkyrimPrefs.ini folder located under "C:\Users\[Owner]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim" and set "bGamepadEnable=1" to "bGamepadEnable=0". Hope this helps anyone else with the problem.

Try a pc restart and run the game in window mode, see if it works then if not then ether way you should have mouse control still so go to settings and rebind the controls.

I can't access settings from the main menu, it seems. And it's a fresh boot, so there's no saved characters to acces the menu. I'm stuck in the Character Creation. That said, I'll try it then update ya. Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you have a controller plugged in?

No, nor have I ever.

The restart / windowed mode combination has not worked. But thanks for the help,
Do you have one? It's possible that your problem isn't the fact that any input isn't accepted, but the fact that your game is forcing controller input. If you have one you can connect it to see, and see if the controller option in your settings is ticked. This is all speculation from someone who isn't that experienced at troubleshooting Skyrim, but it couldn't hurt

I have no controller. And by all accounts I can tell, (digging around in ini prefs), it's not set up to accept controller imput nor perfer it over keyboard imput. But if i could, I would attempt it.
Then you should try an absolute clean installation. Uninstall all your mods (not disable, uninstall), uninstall Skyrim, find where the Skyrim directory was/is and delete it if it's still there to get rid of all the leftover files, and then reinstall Skyrim. After checking to see if it works again you can install your mods.

It's a pain in the ass, and can break a save if you have a ton of mods, but a clean installation can fix a lot of problems

I hate to break it to you, but that's how I first tried to handle the problem. I had a low number of mods, and I was planning on being away from the computer anyway, so the long load times didn't bother me. Yet, here I am.

Thanks to all the people who helped me figure this out, but a solution has been found! Check the OP.
