This bs gets on my nerves and it's been like that for years now.

I've scanned for Skyrim many times and Nexus always see it, and I click the green check mark to confirm it, and Nexus launches just fine. However, whenever I try to download mod from nexus website by clickign the green "DOWNLOAD WITH MANAGER" button, this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ issue error pops up everytime.

What causes it and how I prevent it from happening?? I tried to reinstall nexus but that didn't work either.

You are hitting in to a well known issue, which is never fully solved. There are plenty of possible solutions around the internet, mostly related to installing NMM to another location.

However, NMM is breathing on community support updates, while developers have abandoned it entirely. Everyone is working with Vortex and waiting for it come out, so this bug will unlikely remain unsolved.

I also hit in to that issue once. I solved it by uninstalling NMM, clearing obsolete registry entries with CCleaner and reinstalling NMM. I also made sure that there were no obsolete NMM versions in my hard drive.

Other than that, it is very hard to give reliable response, when devs themselves never managed to fully solve the issue.

Edit: I am downloading all mods manually anyway, instead of using the Download with NMM option in Nexus.

That's so dissapointing. I never had this issue before, so what could possible cause it?? Also, I really hope it's not related to Windows XP??

For some reason it doesn't even launch now. It asks me to rescan for Skyrim but it automatically closes whenever I try to do that... :(

I deleted NMM and installed in a different location and it fixed that pesky error.

If you want the easy answer, %localappdata%\Black_Tree_Gaming open it and delete the folder. (close the nexus mod manager first if its running, or any error windows that are open)

Dude Bobalazs thank you so much! I was ripping my hair out trying to deal with this pesky ass error. Couldn't even start NMM. Error would pop up and program would never start. Genius my friend!

Curius why do you use NMM? I is obsolete and replaced whit Vortex or perhaps the community update

I have over 530 mods installed in Skyrim(oldrim) many of which I had to merge. It was a painful experience getting them to be compatible for a stable game environment. I just know & am used to NMM and don't wanna have to reinstall all my mods with a new manager. I do wanna try Vortex for Skyrim SE though:)
