Shields block all damage
I've searched the Nexus, forums, Steam, and the internet in general for a way to block all damage with a shield. But either no answer was given or, in most cases, the topic wasn't what I wanted.

So I figure I'll make one more attempt in asking here to see if anyone knows a way to get what I want.

I'm looking for some way (Whether it's a mod or a manual change) to make shields block all damage taken. The reason being that I have other mods to increase damage by a lot which means that at low levels I could be killed by one strike even while blocking. Even in vanilla Skyrim I feel that damage soaking through a shield is a bit strange.

You could turn down the difficulty until you get a bit stronger.

This is the only thing I could find that comes close to what you want: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36231/?

But, to be honest, if shields blocked 100% all the time, there would be no reason whatsoever to level up the skill. Just sayin.

It is as it should be, try to hold one shield up, and let your frind whack it whit one 10 kg hammer.
Dont forget to dial 911 after.

Or turn down diffuculty.

I use this mod, but it still takes perks so it's not ideal. I'm also not a fan of the standard leveling system, which is unfortunate given the kind of game this is :p

True, it wouldn't be very logical against warhammers and maybe not the other 2h or maces depending on the material, type of swing, and the type attacker or defender. But if any trained warrior had a steel shield and blocked any other 1h weapon from the game, odds are they wouldn't be hurt.

If you've ever played Mount & Blade, this is the kind of feel I'm going for. But it's a very different game from Skyrim, so it makes sense that mods to make them similar are rare.

I tend to view HP loss as not just "am I/they wounded" but including stress, exhaustion, "lack of composure" and so on, which also helps with "how come a shot in stealth which doesn't actually kill the person does more damage than not in stealth" - the shock and confusion of being shot when their guard was down discombobulated them.

And, well, if someone hits a large piece of metal attached to my arm with a sword, it certainly won't hurt the same way as if I had no shield, but it would still be a fairly large impact for my muscles to absorb and so on.

I concur.

Ho boy..... I remember the my first character getting rekt by Draugr in Bleak Falls Barrow because I thought shields are used like in most games.

In this game sword & shield type of combat is very offensive unlike in most games where a shield's only use is to block.
The way to play with a shield is to interrupt and stun the enemy with bashing, then hack at em. Having melee DPS or mage follower are great for backup especially on low levels because they make up for the damage you lose from your stamina being spent on bashing and blocking.

With the armor cap you'll have 85% damage reduction and another 85% reduction from blocking. considering the HP and Stamina pool you'll have by then... You'll be pretty much invincible.

Is there a way to up the 85% cap? Hopefuly for everyone and not just the player, as that would just mean an easy game. I'm just too used to other games that use different blocking mechanics.

Well you coud use the Console:
blockpowermod - Default is 0, modifies the power of blocking. This can be used for shield bash, charge, as well as block power checks.
But as far i see it makes maybe not only the block checks better :P
