Diplomatic Immunity Quest Bug
I'm playing the Diplomatic Immunity quest (the thalmor embassy) and the quest is bugged at the "create a distraction portion". I can create distrcations with the party guests, the guards will investigate, Malborne opens the first locked door and lets me in, but thats it. The quest doesn't let me progress from there. Also I don't get the little check mark sound whenever you complete an objective even though Malborne registered me completing it. And because my quest journal isn't registering me completing the objective, i can't further the quest from there. Malborne isn't any help he just keeps saying "lets go, lets go before anyone catches us". I tried using console commands to open the door but that doesn't help me further the quest. Can anybody help me please???

I'd suggest going to a save before you met Malborn. Going to a bedroom somewhere and sleep for a month to let skyrim reset all aspects in the game. Then travel up towards the embassy to see if a dragon is around making sure to kill it without any thalmer guards getting killed.
Also try to play it without using console commands.

Diplomantic immunity quest can be buggy and using console commands can cause issues for the rest of your game.

More information can be gotten by Googling "UESP diplomatic immunity"

Potion? We don need no stinking potions. You just need a distraction. And the best one is the drunk that entered when you did. Get a drink from Melborne, go over to the drunk, give him the drink, he is so grateful that he will prvide the distraction.

Try ignoring Malborne after he opens the first door to the kitchen and proceed to the chest with your stuff in it. Once you retrieve your stuff, go through the next door.
