Helgen Reborn "Balfring Firescale" glitch *solved for PC*

There is a thread about this on another website but it is locked and won't allow new comments. So I'm posting this here in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

In the mod Helgen Reborn, after talking to Marcus, you are supposed to go to Helgen and get approached by a nord named Balfring Firescale. Sometimes the quest is bugged and he never approaches to initiate the dialog.

The workaround is to stand in front of him, open the console and enter the following:
setstage BalokHelgen01 30

This will advance the quest to get the dialog going.

or you can just walk to the main gate

Seriously. walk to the main gate? Perhaps you misunderstood. I picked the lock on the gate, walked right up to Balfring Firescale and he just stood there. I could talk to him and he would respond but it was not the quest dialog. Balfring and his companions were supposed to run up to the player character and initiatite conversation. The trigger did not "trigger", and your suggestion would not fix it.

And you need to read the book, and wait 4 days after you have started the quest.

Read the books, more than 4 days have passed at least, more like 4 weeks.

Don't know the reason that stage bugged out. Got past it using the workaround and have moved on.
