Which character to use in Solstheim for best immersion?
Hello. I have never played dragonborn dlc. Going to do it now with dunmer. In your opinion, which class/build should I use for best immersion? I know it's subjective but still.
And are there many things to do if I go with non dragonborn character?

On the second question, as I'm sure you've guessed from the DLC's name, the main quest line and certain others heavily involve your PC being the Dragonborn and already knowing that fact, but, as far as I can remember, you're never forced during dialogue to act like you know nothing about Solstheim, the Red Mountain eruption, etc. Those dialogue choices are just there if you want or need them, so if you want to act like you're playing a Dunmer who would already be aware of those areas or events, no problem, I think. (You can also play immersively as though you're unaware of them even when you play a Dunmer since the game's PC is described as having been caught crossing over the border into Skyrim before the game starts, so maybe you're just playing Nirn's least clued-in Dunmer from another region...)

There are a fair amount of Dragonborn DLC quests that don't directly involve your character's identity as the Dragonborn and instead have to do with things like helping (or harming) people in and around Raven Rock, though I can't offer a guarantee that you being the Dragonborn won't come up during any of those quests and there's no way to get to Solstheim by normal means without "being" the Dragonborn per the game's script that I can remember, because, again as far as I know, the quest line that allows you to travel to Solstheim in the game won't appear until you start the quest to find the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller (and reach at least level 10), meaning your PC will already have it revealed to them by the world's most reliable sources that they're Dragonborn before any of the Dragonborn DLC becomes accessible by normal means. The script for the Dragonborn DLC might assume that to be the case at any point.

As far as build goes, I guess pick whatever floats your boat since there are no PC classes per se in the Skyrim script, just things like the guards commenting on your skills based on how much you've developed each of them. I suppose you could pick something stereotypically Elder Scrolls for that race, such as specializing in fire magic...?

You may indeed travel to Solstheim without being Dragonborn. Simply travel to the ship and pay 250 gold. This may be done at level 1 if you want. There are many quests you can do in Solstheim without being Dragonborn, as well. You can collect some Black Books and word walls, as well as generic side quests.

The Dragonborn Questline will not start however, until you first battle the cultists in Skyrim. I have often gone to Solstheim to get a 'head start' on the questline before becoming Dragonborn.

Also, traveling to Solstheim as a Dunmer has only a couple of perks. A bit obscure, but useful.

I stand corrected, thanks.
