Skyrim Bug? (Aetherial Shield)

The Aetherial Shield is not working for me? When I bash enemies nothing happens, do anyone of you have any idea? I've tried to look it up, but only seem to find bugs about the the staff, not the shield.. Please help? Is there a perk I have to have or a percent of block skill?

Did you try unequiping and reequiping the shield it worked for me

Just to have it said; you have to first block some attack(s) before this effects sets in ;-)
