I place my downloaded mods in a folder called NMM on my desktop.

Are you referring to just having a backup copy, or actually putting them in the game? If you're just going to store them, you can put them where ever you like. Just create a folder as suggested. If you want to put them in the game, they go into your Skyrim/Data folder.

You shouldn't be using your desktop for anything but shortcuts. Actual files should go directly on your hard drive somewhere.

Back in the day we were advised it was not wise to drink beer, smoke a smoke, have a loaded rifle and hand gun, have the kids sit on pillows in bed and gab on the cb, while ripping up a dirt road in a jacked up pickup truck, heading into town to get some fried chicken and sweet tea either but somehow we lived long enough to be reminded the desktop is not a storage directory ~.~

That was the pre-Apple II days.. Windows 3.1 had a desktop, but many programs relied on DOS, it was not until Windows 95+ that things became almost desktop only.. Windows 95 denoted the year... 1995.

Keep it up and I'll make you all cringe with a decktop pic of my comp loaded with folders - lol.
Yes I'm fully aware of how things should be, making it happen is another story. First comp for me was a 386 and I went online in 93 and ditched AOL in 95 when I built a pent 166, with 8mb ram and a voodoo gpu, that rig was smoking fast.
