Elder Knowledge won't start.
I completed Dawnguard, and all the artifact quests before I started to get to work on the main quest. I complete throat of the world, and my character suggests to look at the college of winterhold....even though I already have the scroll. There's no dialog to say I already have it, and in fact the quest "Elder Knowledge" doesn't even appear in my journal. I have no main quest active, despite not having beaten the game yet.

I also don't want to use the console to skip to the Bane quest because I kind of want the Elder Knowledge achievement and all that.

I literally have no clue what I've done wrong. This glitch is insane.

If I punch in the following commands this happens.

"GetStage MQ205"
It'll say the stage is 0.00.....weird considering that's not part of the quest according to one wiki.

"SetStage MQ205 80"
"GetStage MQ205"

and it'll still say the stage is 0.00. Literally using the console to set the stage of the quest does NOTHING.

Instead of messing whit console, that is stupid to do. Since you can mess your game up.

Did you run Dawnguard before you have done Alduins Bane?

Some quests must be done before others, since they conflicts.

Do you have Usleep?
If you dont have that one, install it, and load the save before you started to mess whit console.

Any mods?
What scroll do you have?
There are 3 of them.

And you cant beat the game.

I ran Dawnguard before that yes. I've actually completed Dawnguard and killed Harkon. What's Usleep? and I have all 3 scrolls. The only mod I have that would logically screw with the main quest would be the Unofficial legendary edition patch. Everything else is 'guns' 'convinence mods' i.e Infinite ore veins. Or some variant of "make all the chicks look hot".

USLEEP is the unofficial patch. Please list all your mods (load order), logic doesn't necessarily come into it.

Also, have you tried loading an earlier save and playing through again? Sometimes things just glitch out but don't repeat the glitch if you do that.

I think by completing Dawnguard before starting the main quest you've skipped Elder Knowledge, as the Dawnguard quest Scroll Scouting is pretty much what Elder Knowledge is (visit Urag at the college, Sigmus Outpost, Blackreach etc). So basically you won't be able to get the achievement for Elder Knowledge now unless you restart a new game.

I don't know what is supposed to happen when you bring the scroll back to Parthanux, I'm not upto that part yet.

USLEEP (Unofficial skyrim legendary edition patch) is all the patches combined into 1 and is regularly updated. If you have all the DLC then its recommended to use this instead of the individual patches as they are no longer updated (last update for the old patches was 22nd september 2015). That may have something to do with why Parthanux doesn't recognise you have the scroll, maybe it was a bug fixed after sept 2015.

Arn't you supposed to open the scroll at the time wound, rather than speak to Parthanux that you have the scroll.

You do have USLEEP by the way, so it can't be anything to do with the patch as I'm sure they would have fixed a bug like that.

It's probably just a rare unpatched Dawnguard glitch. I'll just do another file for those achievements quickly once i'm done with the rest of the game's achievements.

No he have done it the wrong way. Some quests must be done before others.

You *should* be able to do it in that order, though, or otherwise they shouldn't have made it so you need the same Elder Scroll for both quests. I've only ever actually completed Dawnguard once though, and didn't do the MQ on that character so I can't comment on if it bugged it out, but if that is the case then... that's shockingly poor game design, even for Bugthesda...

I'm having a similar issue in SSE. I did pretty much everything before I did the main quest. I did not do any Dawnguard or Dragonborn missions.

I completed "Throat of the World," but "Elder Knowledge" never began in my quest journal. I'm now trying to find someway to start the quest (so I can earn the achievement). I've sunk 250+ hours into my character... The fact Bethesda much rather update graphics (I honestly can't stand how graphics mean everything nowadays), and not fix up bugs that are completely game breaking is completely awful... They've even patched exploits... but they left all of the bugs in...

Good news, I was able to fix the quest by creating an edit to it in the Creation Kit for SSE. This also the quest to start, but in a bugged state. However, you can still complete it by using console commands. Once this is done, you'll get the achievement, and the main quest continues on like it normally would. I will recreate the mod for the original Skyrim if this issue is still ongoing for you.

Hello!
Do you still have the mod? And do you have it for special edition?

Cheers!
