Double enchanting
Am I crazy or does purchasing the double enchanting perk make all my enchantments weaker?
Before I got Enchanting to 100 and got the double enchanting perk I could enchant a ring with +61 mana, now I can enchant it with only +41 mana... :(

Did you wear any gear that boosts enchantment strength? Do you have any potions to better improve enchantments? I always make sure I use the azuras star.

Grand soulgems or Black ones.
Use this little mod to. Since in vanilla Skyrim all souls go in Grand or Black/Azuras star.

I loaded a save to check the enchantment strenght and indeed it's putting +40 mana, not +61. I don't remember how I managed to get those +61 mana...
I checked with various soulgems - grand, black and The Black Star...

Did you use any potions when you enchanted perhaps?

Sounds like you used a potion to temporarily boost the enchantment's strength when you crafted it. Unless you had an armour piece that boosted it.

It sounds like I used a +50% Enchanting boost?
I read somewhere that putting two enchantments lowers each to 55% of the max you can put... but no matter how much I put on one item, it's still +40 mana...

Actually, with Dragonborn there are 3 buffs that help with enchanting. One is from Ahzidal's armor set (need 4 pieces). Max enchanting goes something like this.

Grab Seeker of Shadows buff (Black Book: The Sallow Regent). It buffs Alchemy. Also equip maximized Fortify Alchemy gear (helmet, neck, ring, hands). Maximized as in made several times by repeating this process over and over to reforge it until you can't make Fortify Alchemy any stronger (then your ready to use your set/potions to make real gear). Make your Fortify enchanting potions.

Swap Seeker of Shadows for Seeker of Sorcery (buffs enchanting, same Black book). Equip Ahzidal's armor to gain Ahzidal's Genius buff (buffs enchanting). Use your Fortify Enchanting potion and craft away. This is of course assuming one has all the perks necessary and enchanting/alchemy maxed already.

You can ignore these buffs then (Ahzidal's Genius, Seeker of Shadows and Seeker of Sorcery), they are all from Dragonborn. The rest of the process is still the same though.

Ah that one. Did forget, but for getting it you need the whole set. And it can be tricky to find it.
And you need to have Dragonbone dlc
