Do my make my heavy armor skill legendary ?

I m currently lvl 43, my heavy armor skill just reached 100. So currently a fully equipped armor with heavy skill perks gives me armor rating of 399, and if i do legendary, it drops to 172.

Will I be doomed in combat ?

Altough there is an armor cap anyway, i don't think you'll be completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Sure you'll endure less, but i survive with 40 armor on legendary.

My advice is no, stuff like light armor, heavy armor, archery, block, one-handed,two-handed and destruction take ages to level up again, when there are much better skills to make legendary that you can level up very quickly like alchemy, enchanting, smithing, lockpicking, speech etc.

Armor skills level up super slow so do not make an armor skill legendary.
Weapon skills and destruction magic levels up fairly quickly however.
