Quest broken: A Chance Arrangement

I steal the ring (Pick Pocket), and put it in brand-shei's pocket, but it doesn't show that i stole the ring in quests, and eventually he stops distracting everyone and notifies me I failed the mission.

I am guessing there is a conflict with a mod.

I do not have any mods, but I figured it out. The ring has to be the one from her storage thing. If you pick pocket her, she has a silver ring, which really makes things confusing, they should remove that

Right. You must steal 'Madesi's' ring, then reverse pickpocket onto Brand-Shei.

As I remember Brnjolf clearly says you have to steal Madesi's ring from his box tho...
