How can you go to the desktop without closing the game?

There are intricate mods I have that I want to read up on while I'm about to fulfill their tasks in game, but don't want to write all of it down. The Windows key didn't do anything when pressed while the game was paused.

Alt-Tab will do it for me. It's tricky at times though, as Skryim doesn't always like to tab out and sometimes you can get stuck with a double cursor as the desktop cursor hangs around over the game. I find tabbing back in with the keyboard rather than clicking with the moues has the best change of avoiding the extra cursor.

If the info in question is obtained via internet, the steam overlay has a web browser in it.

You could also copy down the relevant information with an actual pen and paper.

Alt-Tab runs fine on my system without cursor bugs.

The other thing to be aware of .. is always first use ESC key so that Skyrim is stopped first; then using Alt Shift for steam overlay before using Alt Tab. Works for me

Skyrim does not like alt tab, depending on how you hold your tongue it could work 20 times, and then crash your game 20 times.

Shift-tab to the Steam overlay then alt-tab from there. My guide uses enbboost only, it does not use an enb preset. Also the guide uses OneTweak which handles the borderless full screen.
