Playing Skyrim without internet connection

My internet connection is fluctuating from time to time. It goes on (connected) and off (disconnected) and on again, and so on and so forth. Question is, what are the penalties of playing skyrim when steam is not connected to the internet? Will it affect the saves in any way? Will it affect any file that may later on break the game?

TL;DR will it break Skyrim if I play it without internet connectiont?

Nope. Set Steam to offline mode and play away. The only thing that will not happen is your saves and achievements will not show on your Steam account until you log back in.
I have no internet at all and I've been fine for 2 years.

You can play any Steam game offline without any problems at all, unless it's a multi-player game. You just won't get any achievements, and your time spent on the game won't be registered. I played Fallout New Vegas for several years without any internet at all. Just set the Steam client to "Offline" in the menu. I always play that way, even though I now have internet.

I'd like to inform that at least on my end, achievements still unlocks while offline.
