Black screen/Won't start

I purchased this game on launch day and I still have yet to even see the title screen. I try to start the game, it loads for about a minute, and then it sends me right back to Steam VR home. It's completely black on my regular monitor. When i bring up the steam menu in VR it says *Exit Game* like it's running, but it's not. I've restarted my CPU, updated my drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, nothing helps. Games I already own work fine, including Job Simulator. Am I the only one with this issue?

Specs: W10, i7-4790, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM. HTC Vive w/ Wireless Adapter.

i just got this for my birthday today and (i use a htc vive) when i click vacation simulator, it loads for a minute and i see a white room, while the monitor on my computer shows a black screen, i've tried unistaling and reinstalling and it still persists, can anyone help me?

Ditto. The game worked perfectly on launch day. I haven't played it in weeks. Now when I try playing it tonight, I got a black screen the first time, exited out, loaded it again and it brought me to the lobby to choose my save file, then it went to a frozen black screen after selecting my profile. Not sure what's going on.

Same issue here on a new install. Just a black screen after launching, gave it ~10 minutes and restarted my machine. Same thing after a reboot. I'd be interested if anyone comes up with a fix.

Installing and using SteamVR fixed this for me. Nowhere does it say I need to use but checking the output log file noticed it wasn't able to initialize the OpenVR dll and... yeah, some searching later realized this is required. Ok.

I have the same issue, and I use an oculus rift

I played it for about 9 hours (over several days, don't worry), and came back to play this morning. Black screen after launching that won't ever change for some reason. I can close the app with the Oculus overlay or by stopping the SteamVR app. Restarting didn't seem to help. I'm using the RIft S.

Same problem on Oculus S, game doesn't load or start, just sticks on black screen.
Nothing suggest ed has worked.

Didn't fix the issue, still crashes on startup.

You can try deleting your save files and seeing if that helps. You can do that by going to:

%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Owlchemy Labs\Vacation Simulator\User\

and copying your save files somewhere else for safety. Then, delete the existing save files from the path we listed above, and boot the game fresh.

Here with Windows Mixed Media. Bought this game just now and only loaded black screen. Any new solution ??, I just downloaded the game so i should have the latest patch, etc. Pretty sure it is not my computer problem as it can play many other VR games.

If anyone is still having blackscreen issues, please boot the game, get to the black screen, and wait for 30 seconds with your headset on. If the issue continues, please e-mail [e-mail] with your log file, which can be found here:

%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Owlchemy Labs\Vacation Simulator

Simply copy+paste that into a Windows Explorer window, grab output_log.txt, and attach that to an e-mail. If you can run dxdiag and send us the diagnostic as well, that will help us solve your issues.
