Game crashes and goes black screen
I started playing this game a few days ago and restarted the SteamVR due to poor condition. However, when I started the game after that, the screen became black and I could not play the game.
I tried reinstalling the game and deleting each folder, but it didn't improve.
I contacted support, but I get a reply only every few days, so I can not get support.
Is anyone who has the same symptom improved?

Has support had you delete your save file yet?

I deleted it ...

Do you have the most up to date drivers for your graphics card? What are the specs of the system you are using? Processor? Graphics card? etc.

I'm dealing with the same thing here for the last several days. The game worked for an hour last week but now it won't. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. I deleted the Vacation Simulator folder from AppData. I uninstalled SteamVR and reinstalled it. I'm still stuck at a black screen in VR, black screen w/ Vacation Simulator logo and hamburger menu button in the bottom left showing on the monitor.

I'm using the most recent NVIDIA drivers that were released after HL:Alyx. i5 8600k, 16GB RAM, SSD, 2080 Super. I'd love to get it working, it was fun for hour I played, but I am conscious of the 2 hour/2 week refund deadline if it really won't ever let me play again.

Here's all I see on my monitor: https://imgur.com/a/Lwm5z2c

I've never been able to play this game due to this exact issue. As we bought it fairly early we left it for a bit, thinking a patch would resolve it. Nothing.

I've emailed support@owlchemylabs.com multiple times, and now owlchemysupport@google.com (why they've changed the email they point people to is beyond me)

I'm very, very disappointed in this as myself and the kids LOVE Job Simulator, and were very excited for this. But no errors to go off, no support to speak of. Very sad

And we see that exact screen that Sophism sees. The logo, and the menu down the bottom right you can open up and see what the room size reports as (ours is fine at 2.2 x 1.6), and options for captions and other things which are useless when the game's not actually running.

And steam says we've played 48 minutes of this game because that's how long in total we've left it trying to have it work!

@spoco2 Has the owlchemysupport@google.com asked for logs from your computer? We are running a bit behind because of all the COVID stuff going on.

I've had no response @BuddingMonkey from any email!

Ok thanks for letting us know. We're definitely going to take a look into the issues with the black screens. It's been hectic for us recently, but we are going to see what we can figure out.

Looking forward to that, thank you. I sent owlchemysupport@ a log today from the last time I tried to run it and had this issue, hopefully that helps.

Thanks BuddingMonkey (Would love to be able to escape to some VR Vacation time during this COVID lockdown)

No reply to my email to owlchemysupport@, no news here. I've got four days left to refund the game. I tried again last night, still can't get anything but a black screen. Any update to give me hope that I shouldn't just refund the game? From what spoco2 said, this has been an issue for a long time.

It has been a long time, and still haven't seen anything here either. :(

If I were you I'd get a refund and then only purchase it again if you see that this issue is resolved, sadly.
Sophism Apr 17, 2020 @ 1:25pm
Yeah, I refunded it. Makes me sad to do it, and I'm happy to buy it again in the future if the issue gets fixed, but I don't want to be stuck with a game that won't launch. Thanks for the advice!
