Vacation Simulator Technical Support Self-Serve
Welcome to the Vacation Simulator, Human!

This is a quick rundown of common support issues for Vacation Simulator. Of course, if you run into any issues not listed here, shoot us an email (owlchemysupport@google.com) with your hardware specs listed and we’ll work to resolve!

Platforms
This document currently covers the following released platforms on SteamVR:
- HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, WMR

Hardware Requirements
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 8.1 or later, Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i5-4590 equivalent or better
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon RX 480 equivalent or better

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 equivalent or better
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, AMD Radeon RX 480 equivalent or better
Play Space Size Requirements
We require a minimum play space size of 1.5m x 2m to play the game.

Common Support Issues

Help! I’m only seeing a black screen!
This issue can be caused by a few different things:

Corrupted Save File
  • There may be an issue with your save file. Try deleting your save file to reset the game. Note that this will reset your game to the uncompleted state. To reset your Vacation Simulator save data:
  • Go to your C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Owlchemy Labs
  • Delete the “Vacation Simulator” folder
    where <username> is the name of your username on that PC

User doesn’t have a VR headset / VR headset isn’t plugged in
  • Vacation Simulator is a VR-only game. Ensure you have your VR headset plugged in to your computer to play!

Users are attempting to play on a system below our minimum hardware specs.

“Roomscale Setup” not configured
SteamVR (HTC Vive & Oculus):
  • You need to set up room-scale tracking for your system in order to play the game. View the following link for instructions on setting up room-scale tracking with SteamVR: https://www.vive.com/eu/support/category_howto/setting-up-room-scale-play-area.html
  • To find "Room-scale Setup" on SteamVR: Run SteamVR > SteamVR ▼ dropdown > Run Room Setup > Room-Scale
  • Oculus Roomscale Only:

  • If you are using SteamVR to run a game with Oculus hardware, you will need to configure roomscale settings for both SteamVR and Oculus Home.

I can’t turn knobs / the game seems jittery or is behaving weirdly
  • If you encounter any jittery moments in the game or other erratic behavior (including the inability to turn knobs on tool choosers in the game), it is likely that one or more of your hardware components are below our minimum required hardware specifications. These requirements are listed at the top of the post. This type of behavior from the game is usually due to a graphics card (GPU) below our required min specs.
  • Sometimes odd performance behavior of this nature can also mean your graphics drivers are out of date. Try updating them to see if the issue persists.
    If using NVIDIA cards:
  • You can download the latest drivers for your NVIDIA GPU here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
    If using AMD cards:
  • You can download the latest drivers for your AMD GPU here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Something super weird is happening...
  • You might have to clear out your save data!
  • Try deleting your game’s save file to reset. *Note: This will reset your game to the uncompleted state. If you installed Vacation Simulator to the default folder, it will be located here:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Owlchemy Labs
  • Delete the “Vacation Simulator” folder

how do you have an email at the root google.com domain?

Ok so whenever i go onto the game itself, all I get is a black screen in some sort of debug mode on my moniter. Its only black on my Vive tough. Can you guys please help? I cannot even get to the home screen, its just all void. Thanks, and keep making awesome games!

This game keeps freezing and then not allowing the mouse to be used. I have to turn off Steam VR to get back use of the mouse. I can't use task manager to kill the program because it won't let me use the mouse.

When we come back to play Vacation Simulator 2.0 on the Oculus (having achieved several goals) it seems to reset. We were using Pass 3.
