The switch itself doesn't provide any bonuses.
But it seems like they changed their mind, close enough to the release of the game that they couldn't be bothered to take out the loading screen.
I think it's a good idea. The rebounding and blocking challenges are pretty tough with some players. I'm glad I can get players up to maximum stats without having to complete everything.
Or Harden having higher stats at diamond is just a result of all his challenges being complete.
If you think about it, diamond is another level; it just requires players to complete a set of challenges to attain.
Nope, I have Harden, upgraded to gold, but not diamond -- never finished rebounding or blocking -- and his stats match the ones listed under "gold" on the loading screen.
I have Harden, upgraded to Gold, but not Diamond, and his stats match the ones listed under "Diamond" on the loading screen. 3PT = 95, 2PT = 97, etc.
EDIT: okay, my brain finally started working.
So the real issue here is that the loading screen makes it seem like "Diamond" is its own level. It's not. It's simply a compilation of each of the individual challenges. There's no baseline stat jump for reaching Diamond, there's just the individual stat increases based on the completion of the challenges.
To put this another way, View The Phenom is absolutely correct.
This being the case, I think the loading screen is a little misleading. But the system is working as intended.
