You can lengthen (or shorten) the station by clicking and dragging the tunnel.
When bins fill up staff empty them into wheelie bins which are place-able in a Utility room (grey room that also takes generators) Without wheelie bins, there is nowhere for them to empty the bins to.
train carriages hold 4 people, until you unlock stock 2 (5 passengers) and stock 3, (6 passengers)
There is a bit of learning curve, but honestly when you get into it a bit you figure it out and enjoy it more for the depth there is. I can also suggest having a look on youtube, there are tonnes of videos to show you the ropes: https://youtu.be/B5CLtyqb57E
