[Part 2] Is the crushing room puzzle glitched ?

So I think I've figured out the clock puzzle but it won't let me confirm my solution.
Nothing happens when I press A. The death scene only occurs if I press A immediately when I enter the puzzle but if I alter the position of the arms, I'm stuck since nothing will happen and I can only press B to go back. Tried multiple times to load and reload the game, exit and re-enter the room but nothing happens. Is there a way I can get around this other than restart the game from Part 1 ?

So I eventually started a new game and had multiple savestates to test it out. Not a single one worked, I'm still stuck on the clock puzzle because it won't respond no matter what...

You shouldn't have to restart the game at all. Is this the answer you're putting in?
