also why was grigori removed from the plot?
I can't give direct answers, but I can speculate.
I think that the story shifted so much, due to Frank not really having any idea what it was he wanted to write. There were allusions to Metal Gear references in the original plot ideas I was handed, but it was never so blatant. It was written more like a love letter to Kojima originally, but the new story just comes across like MGSV fan fiction.
I don't think it's to do with a lack of creativity on Frank's part, he was a very creative individual. But he had no direction. He wasn't driven to make a specific story, he hadn't already figured out what he was going to do with it, and this inevitably led to him just emulating something that already existed.
As for Grigori, I have no idea why he was removed from the plot. It might have something to do with the push they seem to have made towards excluding as many canon characters as possible? So far as I can tell, G-Man is the only real canon you meet in HDTF, right? Didn't they change Gordon Freeman into a red herring?
Yes. so in a nutshell there is a dude named Adam he is a black ops, and he puts on a HEV suit and beats up Mitchell, and Mitchell says that he will kill the dude in the HEV suit, then gman "saves" him, and makes a deal that: if you can follow up on what you said i let you live. so you go on a wild goose chase, because Mitchell thinks the guy who beat him up was freeman, the game ends with Mitchell killing Adam fulfilling the deal.
This goes into another question, was Mitchell really men't to hunt down the freeman?
From my understanding, originally, yes.
Including Gordon Freeman's face in the original trailer wasn't supposed to be later used as a bait-and-switch. It was in the original plot, that Morgan would hunt down Gordon.
I think he was also supposed to fail, and either die, which would have been interesting, since main character death isn't too common in media.
Or, Morgan was supposed to find something more important to him than killing Gordon Freeman, and was going to abandon the objective, to pursue something more important.
The lad who made the story, and directed the game
I keep forgetting his real name, he always contacted me here, on steam, as Frank Jaeger.
That MGS reference tho. He wore his fandom on his sleeve.
Was Mitchell/Morgan always meant to be Shepherds brother,
and do you still have any recordings of the voice lines you did?
If not then do you remember anything important, or generally how your performance was meant to be?
lastly what character did you play and what was there role to the story.
I'm compiling beta/unused content. again sorry that i took so long to come back.
AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, yes, Mitchell was always supposed to be Adrian's brother, but this is the kind of plot point that Jaeger didn't talk about? The plot of the game seems MOSTLY intact, it's just that the character(s) I was supposed to play got removed, and the game became very cutscene heavy.
I was in the original trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ym1o-CdkA0 here. I'm the first voice, and that definitely wasn't my best take rofl. I don't know why he went with that one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqV5fyfb9mE&t=429s I was also the soldier here.
As for the character I was supposed to play, mostly background soldiers, but I was also to be a character named 'Sarge' who can be seen in the original trailer. Leather coat, captain hat, revolver, camera zooms in on his eyes.
God speed you magnificent bastard.
yo thanks.
Weird question, but was Sarge meant to die?
the reason i ask is because the character who he was replaced with dies after two cutscenes in the final game.
feel free to state any corrections, and or changes you want made to it.
