you can store cash like in binding of isaac, and you can get a different starting weapon, pretty cool if you may ask me

You can also level up vendors througout the main area, Ive only beaten the game once but it seems to keep progressing the colony with each win.

I'm sorry but how do you store cash?

Just deposit the tapes on you at the tape bank.

Storing your tapes (which is the games form of currency) slowly unlocks bonuses provided by MAC(the bank bot) such as paying for shop contents with your bank balance directly but paying 20% extra for the convenience. If you provide Billy with fruit you find out in the wasteland he will slowly farm up more of the crop you gave him. Playing the game in general will unlock more possible drops with the score you accumulate that you see at the end of your runs. Spending tapes at the vendor in town will slowly upgrade the things she provides and gives more options such as mutations, artifacts, and better healing items. The most obvious changes in power and play comes from the different bats you unlock through various means such as the bat that increases how many rads you get from things but increases the fall damage.

Silly question - I haven't gotten very far at all yet, just started playing. I assume all this stuff you are talking about is back in the starting area before you enter the portal to start adventuring.

How do you get back to this starting town, please, to interact with everyone, store tapes, give Billy fruit, etc?

once you beat a level you'll have a choice to go through one of two portals. go in the left one and you'll be back in town.

Thank you, Fearless!

How do you give Billy the fruit? :(

with a fruit in your inventory, stand in front of billy and HOLD B (item use button) this will drop the currently held item (in this case, fruit) and billy will take it from there

Thank you! This is seriously not explained in the game anywhere. I finally found fruit, and pressed C next to Billy like the controls told me to do, and I ate the damn thing! It does not say anywhere to HOLD the C button to give it to Billy.

Come on Double Fine. Explain stuff like this, please!

honestly, i cant remember how i found out even, either it was in a controls list in the menu (if that exists) or past experiences with games, still though, i did the same thing and it was pretty frustrating

It mentions explicitly to drop the item, but it does, indeed, not tell you how, though a quick jaunt to the key bind menu will show you. Games nowadays tend to have context-sensitive interactions be the norm, but RAD seems purposefully designed to be anachronistic, which I actually kinda like.

You can also gain "Quirks", so you start with a bonus, too. Not sure how these are unlocked exactly, though.

To be fair, even the key bind menu only says to press C to use/drop items. It says nothing about having to HOLD C to give items to someone.

Yes it does. It specifically says (Hold) Drop Item.
