Blue or Purple door at end of dungeon?
Does it make any difference? I've picked Purple twice on my first run and I'm at level 2-1 so far.

It makes a difference if you want to bank your tapes and maybe resupply and/or swap weapons before heading to the next level. There's also some unique dialog changes depending on your mutations, if that's important to you. (Someone wrote it, so it's important to SOMEONE, at least.)

It's personal preference at that point, I figure. I usually head back and hit the bank, but I don't suppose it really matters.

Thanks. As far as I'm aware it wasn't explained in the game. I assumed it went back to town but wasn't sure. I'm running around with 150 tapes :(

Sometimes, while in production, programmers, writers, and other people involved, will fall into a trap: they forget that not everyone knows the game as inside and out as they do. Sometimes it's minor stuff that's not hard to figure out (especially for gaming veterans), and sometimes it's rather major stuff, like how to actually find the path to play the game (Mirror's Edge, I'm looking at you). When this happens, don't be afraid to experiment and risk, unless it's a truly BAD game it won't penalize you overmuch for doing that. They WANT you to enjoy yourself, even if what "enjoy" means might vary wildly between game company and player.

I've finished the 3 Dark Souls games and a lot of that was experimentation. I was a bit worried though I think RAD is permadeath. I managed to beat the 3rd boss on 1 hp and went back to the town.
