Is this open world?

As the title asks, I do not know if this game is open world like the original.

I thought it was just certain spots of the open world game and those spots are just a few certain cases.

There are only several playable missions, however you can sidestep a mission and get in your patrol car and free roam. I haven't tested the limits of the map to see how large it really is, but it is somewhat open world. In the sense of gaming though, there is nothing going on in that open world to do beside look at it, there are no side missions or other things you can do besides the base missions.

That kinda sucks. Wish they just made a VR experience of the full game for 60$. I would love to be inside 1940s LA

you pretty much are in 1940's LA. Feels a bit like Back to the Future. But now I'm gonna need GTA because I would love to have these controls in a Lamborghini.
