This system will filter videos according to the capability of Graphic Cards you use.
Right now there is a bug related to recognize RTX 2070 and RTX 2080.
We will soon release a new version to support these two Graphic Cards.
There is only one reason for this: user base is relatively too small compared to users who watch other kind of videos (ex. 180 SBS NSFW videos).
We have argued internally for too long about when should we start supporting Blu-Ray. However the fact is, there are always features/bugs with higher priority coming up so we have to delay the support for this.
At the end of the day, VR video player is more about 180/360 VR video playback.
We will of course support Blu-Ray in the future but unfortunately there is no ETA at the moment. When Blu-Ray is supported, it may also be the time SKYBOX starts charging...
Hope this info helps.
If you support 3D bluray in VR, so that I can basically watch my 3d blurays in a VR IMAX size screen etc on my pc.....I would shove 40 bucks your way in an instant. Seriously a lot of people would buy that app. It would reignite the 3D movie genre. I have a decent size collection of 3D blueray for my 3d TV already. More over I know several people who would like to get 3d Blurays but don't because you can no longer find new TV's with 3D......
The difference here is the content has already been made. There are already libraries of 3d movies....we just need a player for VR.
I would find it a bargain to pay, lets say, 15 or 20 € for a (well working) 3D BluRay software player for VR headsets which does not require any circumstantial or even illegal steps. I mean, it saves me hundreds of bucks for special hardware equipment (which I am not willing to pay).
So yes, +1.
P.S. In this case it should be possible to play back 3D BluRays in full FullHD resolution.
What's the status on the stuttering bug? I'm still having it horribly on my 2080ti, and it gets worse the longer the video plays. I can go back to an earlier point in the video before it started stuttering but once it starts it happens at the beginning too. The strange thing is I can watch the same videos on my underpowered oculus quest without any problems at all. Unfortunately this makes skybox unusable for me, which sucks because it has the best UX by a wide margin.
Sorry for the inconvenience. If possible, please share with us the stuttered video at support@skybox.xyz so we could test it on our side. Do you watch the video from local storage please? Thank you.
It's just an extremely unpopular format, and all VR mp4 video, for some reason, don't use frame packing and use the lower quality SBS option. Until VR video starts being released frame packed for higher visual quality, I wouldn't expect any VR players to start supporting it (including bluray). Of course no VR video will support frame packing until there are players than can play it, so you know... it'll just never happen. Not unless 3D blurays become hot tech all of a sudden, but that ship has sailed.
(Edit: Actually I didn't check if this player supports frame packed mp4, I just assumed it doesn't... if it does, excuse everything I said)
You're taking 1920x1080 per eye and busting it down to 960x1080, or 1920x540 per eye when you convert to SBS (Unless you do full width SBS, but I think that's not supported?).
And even if you save the video in a normal 1920x1080 SBS resolution you dont see in most parts mutch different.
And i noticed thet quite many 3D Blue Rays are not even in a 1920x1080 format instead they are mostly only max. 1920x980 for widescreen.
