It's a bummer as it will be weeks without internet and I cannot think of a better way to spend my time in the woods than building.
I'm sure there are much more pertinent things to work on in EA than this.
Good to know it's not going to be one of these new titles that must always report home to work. I wouldn't buy it if it was.
Thanks again.
Sure, only 1 GM, no issue. But say you have two, who both build in the same area of a board, who do you trust? Whose do you overwrite, when they get merged back into the "online" version or similar. It is these kinds of questions which can delay seemingly core features :)
Maybe tethering or satellite could work for you, but unsure of your exact setup
Paying for satellite isn't cost effective for building mods.
Then there is the constant connection thing that bugs me. I don't like having to be attached to use a product. I think there is way too much of this now and I don't want to support it in anyway. If I have to go without then so be it. Privacy is very important to me.
I can see the multiple DM arrangement you speak of. I believe the best bet would be to allow people to choose between the online storage and offline use. I imagine this is what they will do once they get around to it.
Our group doesn't need to worry about the multiple DM's as we have 1 for each module. We also enjoy LAN games through our own network so accessing our own private modules is important us. We began this with NWN and more than half of our time playing was on private networks with private modules.
If there has been controversy about this I want to say that's not what this post is about.
We just care a great deal about privacy and I do a lot of my module building while on the road in the mountains - it's a great place to create, and I always hit a few cave systems for inspiration!
So this is just a "wait and see" as far as i am aware, not the best news I know, but better then a flat "no it isn't happening"
