Dashing mechanic
At least for me dashing on keyboard is a nightmare, if only time to press 'D' or 'A' button again was a little longer it would make things easier. Seriously fatality in MK is easier than dashing in Vigil.

It's a pain with the analog stick too (360 controller). In fact I would think it would be easier with a keyboard, at least with my mechanical keyboard I can double tap really quick.

Double tap and 'Space' once or twice in the right moment.

It's not great on the switch either honestly very spotty on if it triggers at all

It's even worse when using an analog. Seems to work 75% on the right side and 25% on the left. I actually have to hit diagonal down twice to dash on the left side, which feels awful. Yet another reason not having movement with the Dpad was a very stupid decision.

I'm about to tilt on the cerulean ocarina area. When I try to make small step adjustments to my position to evade the buzzsaws, my imputs sometimes get read as a suicidal YOLO-dash off the platform.

This was me yesterday. Literally did not explore the area because i was so sick of instant death drops

Seriously, dash is basically an upgrade of roll. They both have about the same function. Why can’t dash just replace roll after Leila obtained it. Pushing analog twice is a real pain during combat.

You can get an early game item that allows you to scout ahead. That area is much more doable when you can see what's below you before leaping. For me the biggest problem in that area was the stupid dash. Going towards the right side it was "OK", although I always made sure to leave myself some stopping room at the edge of a jump in case the dash didn't work. Going towards the left however was super frustrating. Fortunately, there's not really too much of a reason to go to the left in that area.

Also, in case you didn't know: you can use your return feather while in that area. For some reason, you can't in two of the other gateway areas. Never bothered trying in the ice area, but it might work there. You still can't use a fledgling feather to save though in any of them. I *highly* recommend using your return feather in that place to save once you happen to find a particularly overpowered weapon. First time I found it, I ended up dying and then had a hard time finding my way back to it.

I also just want to comment here to say that if you want the Mechanical Bow but don't want to go find it in the Shadow Disaster, you can actually buy one from the secret shop in the Peak of Weep that opens as you collect Monazite. I believe you need to give the merchant 3 pieces of Monazite (of 5) to access the weapon. You can find Monazite in Hunter's Huts: there's one in the treetops of the Depressing Forest, one in the treetops of the Peak of Weep (almost right above the lamp on the bridge), one on the ground in the Peak of Weep next to an owl statue, one in Limestone Way hidden beneath the owl statue (use a dash double jump to get there), and the last one hidden in the treetops of Bufonitte Lake.

I dashed out myself out of this game for now.

Just a heads up:

Bind dash to a button on pad or keyboard and disable double tap dash.

Problem solved.
