I went for the guardian armor very early.
If you want a cool sword like weapon go to the flooded area early on.
The defense stat is generally not that great unless you get a good amount of it. The rule of thumb is, the more defense you have, the more useful even more defense is. This is opposite of attack where for example getting five more attack matters less if you already have 150 of it than if you just have 30 of it.
Switch to another armor set, there is no reason to stay with Vigil gear other than looks. Personally, I prefer Percival set among the early available armor, but if you don't like the looks, then feel free to go with something else. However, if you want to go for usefulness, I'd suggest you look at secondary effects like bonus stamina and bonus health, that will early on matter far more than defense. Cooldown reduction is not that great though, so I'd pass up on Sauna Gear. Also, it's safe to upgrade armor to at least +3, you get a ton of shimmering stones.
I'd say, pick the traveler set and +3 it in following order; coat, boots and finally gloves. This is safe to do as the cost will end up negligible. You can also take the coat to +6, triangular shimmering stones takes longer to become massively available, but 3 of them is not that bad. I would not take the boots and gloves to higher than +3 though. Again I would have went for Percival set, but if you don't like it, feel free to skip it.
Just lvl up stamina recovery and so on.
Game still is a breeze most of the time.
Dont think these things thru too much just play 😉
Do you have double jump already?
But really i would say the game is not that hard.
You lvl up and get strong fast.
Also that weapon i found has a strong magic range attack that i can use everytime it gets a bit close
As for armour, resistances are probably more important than poise and defence. Enemies hit hard enough that defence is usually not that significant and you are prone to being staggered. Potions are common and cheap enough you can just spam so status is more troublesome than pure damage. One thing I don't like is when an armour increase stamina consumption, particularly problematic when you are using daggers or bow, so just keep that in mind.
However i want that black cloak i saw, however i can't find it.
it just isn't there.

On YT, someone actually showed the location of it, two guys actually. Has it been moved somewhere else? I defeated the poison guy there, but he didn't drop anything as far as i know.
Ah, it's a random drop.
As I recall, the Black Feather mask is in a chest near the end of the Flooded Area, shortly before the boss.
As for the armor dropped by the hunter you've been looting, it all basically ends up having that weird oily purplish effect. Personally, I only ended up using the gloves as they aren't too distracting and their stats are worth keeping them on for.
If you're going for more of a stable black-ish look for the body, you're probably going to want to use something like Dephil's or the Raven's Coat instead.
Thanks. Yeah, i thought it was some kind of texture shader bug or something when they were oily, i also got the sword he had which i am using right now. But coming to that site is a real pain in the A$$. Dash+Jump never works unless you use daggers, the best way is to just use a halberd and attack mid-air while dashing from a branch. They could have made that a lot easier. And yeah, i got the mask, thanks.
Also, Drew just dissapeared from my game, any reason why? I have progressed the quests as normal, and after i did, he never showed any interest. The only one i have remaining is the Lake, and the Lady is suspicious about the doctor yet i can't confront him.
It is because you didn't check up with him after defeating each boss; if you beat the two bosses in a row without checking up on him at town, he likely dies and you failed the quest. https://vigilthelongestnight.wiki.fextralife.com/Homelessness
The wiki states that you have to make sure to talk to the doctor with each boss defeated before talking to Drew, but I tried talking to Drew and then the doctor after beating one boss at a time and it still works:
Tara or the poison guy drops multiple equipment items, which means that you have to fight him multiple times. If you have gotten the thief's hand artifact from the flooded area, you can use it to steal one of his items per fight, which may be the cloak.
Yeah, it's Tara, and i even got the Largh Blade. Which apparently increases damage as you kill enemies. Still not that powerful, but it might become so. It's at +7 right now, Armor is +6. I still don't know what some of the runes do. Like Curse Rune. I know what others rune do, however. But what type of damage is Curse?
I actually now need an Ocarina, cleared the catacombs and everything but didn't find any Ocarina anywhere for the Catacombs.
