After you beat the mine boss a path will open up and down that path is the arcane item (I believe its called hand of flame) that lets you destroy flame pillars.

Thanks :) and I see now I can jump higher with dash when I have double jump :)

The dash doesn't really add any height just distance same for the airdash ability you get later. Recurve Bow special attack gives you some added height.

Technically you don't actually have to kill the boss of the Mines to get the Hand of Flames: you can also sequence break it. The way out of the Mines leads to the Limestone Way owl statue (Limestone Way is directly to the right of the Miner's Path owl statue), but you can use a Throwing Star of the Holy Six to break the one-way wall from the Limestone Way owl statue. If you need Throwing Stars, you can get 5 of them in Idonea's Shop by double jumping at the owl statue and holding up, getting you up to her rafters.

EDIT: I believe the reason this works is because the Throwing Star of the Holy Six goes through walls and has a continuous hitbox. If this is correct, then it passes through the unbreakable side of the wall and hits the breakable part, breaking it all. Regardless, I just did it on my last run so it definitely works. I had the Hand of Flames before I was an hour and a half in: useful because I was doing an Arcane run.

This will get you into the Mines backwards and let you skip straight to the Hand of Flames. You can make the jump without dash: you either need to use the double daggers and attack in the air, or use the Recurve Bow's special attack to get extra height. I didn't try it, but I'd assume that you could also enter the Erupting Flesh Cluster boss from the wrong side and kill it early. If you wanted to complete the Save the Miners quest I'd be wary of trying this, since killing the boss might progress the story and lock you out of that quest. However, if you were going to try to speedrun the game and didn't care about saving them, you can get to the Erupting Flesh Cluster a lot faster going around the back.

You can also jump higher using "time deviation" arcane spell, just use it when you are in the air, rewind, then jump again. t's quite a handy exploit I would say.

This post is pretty out of date so I doubt anyone is checking on it again, but just in case I've come back to chime in that the Hand of Flames sequence break no longer works. One of the patches leading up to the Asomrof update fixed it so that that wall needs to be broken from the right side. Throwing Wraths of the Holy Six at it will just waste your items.
