Do you recommend this game ?
So far the only platformers I really liked were Ori and HK. I somewhat liked My Friend Pedro.
I did not like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Dead Cells, Death's gambit and Limbo.
Thanks in advance.

It feels closest to salt and sanctuary in a lot of ways to me, if that's helpful.

It would help if you also mentioned why you didn't like those games. Vigil isn't as smooth and fluid as HK, so you might find the combat clunky and the jumps are really awkward and floaty. The backtracking and area unlocking aspect also isn't as fleshed out as HK or RotN. The stamina system is a little more forgiving than Salt and I never liked Salt's artificial difficulty (no map in a metroidvania seriously). Haven't played Death's gambit or Limbo so can't comment. Vigil is also a complete game so no roguelike bullcrap.

If had to rate this game it'd be HK > RotN > Vigil > DC.

Many thanks. I am not sure why I couldn't get into RotN. I found it boring and underwhelming very early. When I watched the gameplay on youtube it seemed awesome for some reason. I haven't yet played Salt and sanctuary. I was told it is somewhat like Dark Souls which I adore. I haven't played Rogue either. Dead Cells - I was sent all the way back to the beginning every time I died. I found it very frustrating.
Thank you very much. It's very helpful.

I actually found this game to be closest to Bloodstaind RotN. Just in the way it plays. When you die you do lose any progress and re load from a save point/Checkpoint Statue. Which honestly are very generous through this game so if you are used to Dark Souls that will not be an issue lol.

Also, if you love or even liked Dark Souls totally check out Salt and Sanctuary it even has much replay potential. As with Dark Souls you can make a build that practically puts you in Easy mode or one that Slaps you in the face each time you load up lol.

I understand the Struggle of Dead Cells. It really turned me off of a potentially great game :( I would not have minded losing my gear at all but having to start fresh each time killed my soul lol.

Deaths Gambit really is not too bad some of it can be meh at times but if it's on sale you guys should grab it for a quick one and done.

Absolutely recommended, still working my way through but, outstanding art style, boss design, music, and definitely feels in the same wave length as Salt and Sanctuary which is a good thing!

Based on the games you don't like I wouldn't recommend this game. I think this game plays more like Ritual of the Night and Death's Gambit than the games you like. This game is not nearly as polished as Hollow Knight or Ori, and is more janky and buggy, like Death's Gambit (on release, no idea what it's like now).

Honestly if you are not sure after reading this. Put it on your wishlist and wait for a sale ;).

This game feels very much like a mashup of Bloodstained, Salt and Sanctuary and Bloodborne. So, if you really disliked Bloodstained but can't quite put your finger on why and doesn't know the other two, well, it becomes hard to recommend.

Personally I liked it. It's a bit rough around the edges (*cough*translation*cough*) but it's a good game with solid mechanics (that resemble Bloodstained a lot), great music and a cool ambiance. If you are really unsure about it, you might wanna purchase it, test it for two hours and see if you get a feel for the controls and the setting and, if not, refund it.

No. There' much more dialogue (that you read) and more of a story (I couldn't follow it) in Vigil but the game is shorter. S&S has much deeper character customization, more weapons, and the game is longer and has more bosses.

thank you, thats what I was afraid of, similarly to death's gambit...

The game is firmly a metrovania with identical mechanics to Bloodstained / DG and others.

Being honest, you probably will not enjoy it.

Absolutely recommended, What a fantastic game, plus you get a little cameo from Salt and Sanctuary which is a great bonus!,
