This is a known issue that affects all WMR headsets due to the audio chipset used. It gets worse with age of the device. For anyone experiencing this issue, know that's its caused either by insufficient power delivery or signal interruption. It most often occurs with extensions.

I think its a defect of the device, cables they used are cheap af
I never used extensions, always a straight connection to the PC.

Everything worked great at first but about 1 year for the odyssey and 1.5 years for the odyssey +, and then the cables just failed.

There was a good reason why these devices were so cheap for the time. Its probably the same reason why they are dropping support for WMR. They are not producing the devices anymore and they are well aware that within 2 years, all the cables will fail anyways.
