Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR

Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR

Game still playing on monitor? Is this right?
Completely new to this VR thing so still learning, When im in the Cliff House or anything running from that my mixed reality portal shows nothing as its paused. Which is great.
But when im in Steam VR and gaming my monitor is displaying the game running as normal, in full screen? Is this right? How can I stop this?
Seems wrong that the graphics card is having to pump out the game to the monitor and the headset at the same time. Seems like a tall ask playing project cars 2 even for my GTX 1080.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's not having to render the game twice. It's just mirroring what has been rendered and reprojecting it for the headset. If you haven't noticed any performance issues, then everything is fine.

Oh OK. Thanks for the reply. Just wondered as on the monitor it looks great. But in the headset the car interior is clear and looks good, but the track is quite blurry in the distance. Not sure how to set the graphics up for gaming in VR.

Yeah I've noticed odd discrepancy between quality of rendering on the desktop and headset (including less judder on the desktop). Steam have the option to disable/enable a mirror so the mirrors that automatically happen with many games may be specific to them and a byproduct of the game running, and there's not much Steam can do. I can't believe the mirroring isn't taking some CPU and memory hit though for processing the video image.

Me too I would gladly disable that mirroring in on the display, there is really no need for that, at least give me the option to turn it off/on.

I'm using an xbox 360 controller at the MO. Works great. I'm probably going to get a wheel set up, but wanted to see how game ran in VR first.

Ive downloades the ouclus app and ive downloaded the revive app. When i go to steam vr on my headset i click the button for the revive and it brings up my rife games but when i go to load the game, the game plays on my loptop monitor and not my headset, my question is how do i fix this?
