Custom patch to map touch pad to joystick.
I can't get this to work.
I tried every way to put the files into the bin folder. As folders, taking what was in the folders and putting them directly into the Steam Vr bin folder, nothing worked.
When I put the contents of both the WMR_vrclient and Dist folder in the bin, I just get an error.
Same error if I just put the Dist contents in the folder.
"The system cannot find the file specified.
failed to copy a file - try closing Steam and making sure SteamVR is not running."
Steam and SteamVR are both closed. I shut them both down in the task manager.
It does put the "real" versions of the files into the folder, but the thumbsticks don't work as trackpads in any games after doing so. Something isn't getting put into the folder that should be to make this work, or something has changed in Steam VR in a recent update that removed a folder or file that this is looking for.
The instructions kind of suck and aren't very clear. They need to be more specific about what files should be removed from their folders and put into the bin file.
I've tried every configuration I can think of, have deleted the "real" files every time, and still don't get anything but errors trying to put this in.
back to no thumbsticks
I think game developers should take a look at the flexabilty of the Doom 3 VR mod, as this allows one to customise everything, including controllers, I dont think it should be up to steam vr, its the game developer that should give us some customising control
I will probably get flamed for this but I hate touchpads, I purchased a steam controller, great quality, hats off to the engineers, great peice of hardware, but i hated using it, couldnt wait to go back to an xbone controller.
Touch pads suck, joysticks all the way!!
