Recommended Controller Batteries ?
Hey there, what are your best recommendations for batteries for the controllers?
It seems to eat the batteries very fast, what are the best rechargeable batteries you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I am using a 8 pack of Panasonic "eneloop" Ni-MH rechargeables, purchased from Costco. I keep 4 in the controllers at all times, and 4 charging. I'm getting 4-6 hours of continuous use, depending on the game.

Ni-MH are okay, but Lithium is better, you will see double the run time at least from the Lithium.

Only one recommendation, that is 1.5v.
The Ni-MH are 1.2v and will give you many low battery problems.
For example those of Li-Po: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/4-pcs-1-5-v-2200mWh-AA-Li-polymer-Li-ion-lithium-polymer-rechargeable-batterie-avec/1959166_32538706068.html

Jove Chiere - Although I have been successfully using Ni-MH rechargeables in my WMR Samsung Odyssey controllers without ever getting premature "low battery problems", I think your post provided a very economical Li-Po alternative. I have ordered a dozen for my WMR and other battery operated devices. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just use some 1300 mAh Energizer rechargeables that I picked up from the grocery store. They come in packs of 4, and I grabbed two. They seem to work fine for quite a while when I'm actually using them.

Just make sure you're getting 1200 or above mAh. The higher the mAh number, the better.

That said, are you sure they're being used up as much as you think?

I mean, definitely pick up about 8 rechargeables anyway, it will save you tons of money in the long run with something like this, but make sure they are as empty as you think. Get 8 so you'll always have a fresh pair if you keep recharing them as soon as you swap them out.

Steam VR constantly reports mine as empty even if they are fresh. The controllers also tend to cut off if they are out of my field of view and don't have any input for too long, especially the left one.

That can make it seem like the batteries are getting empty when they are nowhere near it.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the controllers themselves falsely reporting how much charge the batteries have, or if it's Steam VR just not reading it right. Either way it's a hardware issue and not a problem with the power supply.

I've tried several different types of batteries and the controllers always behave the same way. The 1300 mAh batteries I'm using do last longer than anything else I've tried though.
