Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR

Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR

WMR => Steam VR overhead compare to native Microsoft Store ?
Hi, this is a question for Microsoft team or people who knows well about this topic.

- How much performance translating WMR to Steam VR app does it takes compare to native MS Store apps ?

- Does it drain mostly CPU cycles or GPU ?

- Is there any way or hope to get almost the same performance as native apps ?

- Now that Microsoft joined the new Open XR for standarzing VR, is there any hope that we can someday just use 1 API for all the headsets ?

It seems MS is trying really hard to promote the Microsoft Store / UWP thing, but without much success: Windows RT, Windows Phone, Windows 10 S, Edge, and now WMR, Windows Polaris soon. In most cases it's not working because the content is just not there.

I hope they can stop shoehorning everything into the UWP model. If the content is there then people will use it. How about Forza 7 VR? How about Halo VR? Seriously, not that stupid "recruit" piece of junk...
I hope they do something to fix this. I've been buying games from windows store beause the experience is so much better.

I'd buy Forza Horizon VR. But never going to buy a game that's on Steam from their store, unless they had considerably lower prices, which they usually don't.
If Microsoft wants to push their store forward, they should seriously revise their pricing policies and UI. For example, from the store interface it takes ages to access my library compare to steam, that’s just not ergonomic enough yet.
IF MS wants to give WMR a chance, they need more native apps for sure. Also more competative pricing. They have until the Vive Pro release to do so...otherwise...I and I imagine many others will be selling our WMR then and moving to VIVE. There's several apps/games that could be killer as native WMR titles. Google Earth is an obvious one. Subnautica might be the best VR game I have tried, and is often overlooked because most do not know it can be played in VR. A goof rogue/like dungeon crawler native would be nice. It also would be nice to actually see this MIXED reality they keep talking about in apps. Also as much as they love their Windows 10 Minecraft/Xbox style minecraft. They are shooting themselves in teh foot not to also work ona native WMR Vivecraft type setup for Jave Minecraft. The hardcore minecrafters will always stay with JavA because THAT is where the mods and mod community are at.....MS owns both WMR and Minecraft.....Make a NATIVE WMR to Java/Forge solution! I wonder if the people at MS working on WMR really understand gamers at all.

The WMR hardware is a better value then Vive....the mixed reality platform has lots of potential....but right now the delivery of content, and or understanding the content their customers want seems DOA...

Microsoft needs to secretly support a porn app for WMR, coz then no one would ask you why your lighthouses are set up around the bed...
