The Professor
Update July 6, 2020

Hi everyone!
I've made some structural changes to this mod. It plays the same way, but I've taken the new job and the extra followers out and turned them into stand-alone mods.
More Followers;
https://www.nexusmods.com/cultistsimulator/mods/10/
The Author;
https://www.nexusmods.com/cultistsimulator/mods/9

Both are also available on my Google Drive, as well as the new version of the Professor.

Hello!

I'm back with my Second Cultist Simulator Mod, called The Professor.
This is a rather ambitious mod that adds a whole new ascension to the game, through the Secret Histories, and the Witness.

To attempt this ascension, you will need to start with The Professor Legacy at the start of the game.

It also adds a new work mechanic for Writing to the game. It uses your Reason skill and is similar to painting.
In addition, it adds more followers so that there is three of each type, including Secret Histories. Each new follower has an ending as well.

The scope of the mod is quite large, so I've done my best to test it. But let me know if you find any bugs so I can patch them!

To say much more would be to spoil it, but I've got it uploaded on Nexus mods for anyone interested.

If you're looking for help with modding, there's a few good online sources. There's a modding page on the Cultist Simulator Wiki with all the info you need.
https://cultistsimulator.gamepedia.com/Modding
Also, Frangiclave has a database of all the elements, recipes, ect. currently in the game so you know what you're building off of.
https://www.frangiclave.net/
Lastly, the Cultist Simulator Discord has a modding channel where you can ask more specific questions, and we can try to help you out! Good luck with the mod you're building, and thanks for playing mine!
Thank you for the advise. I think I'll download immediatly the version with the bug fixes. Ah, one last thing, where did you find all the art for the mod. I know you made some yourself but I think some weren't handmade by you. If I'm right, I'm on a desperate research for other images for the art folder. Thank you again.

A few of the pieces of art are pulled from Fallen London and Sunless Sea, as per their permissions regarding fan projects. Those are the ones with a distinctly different art style. Those are the only ones I found.
For the rest, there are the really crappy images which are the ones I made from scratch. The rest are edits of images already in the game. For example, most of my books are just re-colours or inverted images from other books already in the game. Other things, like the character art, were made by mixing and matching from multiple characters. I'd take the head of one character, the nose of another, the shoulders of another, ect. until it looked unique.

So, I don't want to make too many spoilers. To get the first "secret histories others" location, the library of hush house, you have to talk to one of your secret histories followers, which were added with the mod (you can find them by exploring the campus, but I assume you already knew), about cult business and, when the slot about the SH lore appears, put inside the lvl. 2 lore SH Other. I got the location at the first try, but if you don't then just continue trying (I suggest using a disciple). Do the mission and unlock the lvl. 4 lore, then speak about it with "your favourite dancer" (cheat bridgeofblues, also, cool name) and do the most unnerving mission of all. When you unlock the lvl. 6 lore, talk again to "our favorite dancer" and she will suggest you talk about it to Teresa (my favourite summoning). After that more or less the game tells you what to do with the Atlas of Dreams and other items it will give you in the future. I won't go any further so not to spoiler too much the story. Also, about the small edit I had to do to the save, for some reson the game after a mission didn't give the book to unlock the next SH Other lore. If that happens to you then I suggest you take an item you don't use or don't want (I used the cracked watchman glass, there's two of them and I already had the frangiclave), talk about it with a follower and save while you're talking. Then go in the save file, serch for the part that tells you about the conversation and about the item and substitute that tiem with the book you need. I think it was called the "Name of the Hours" or something like that. You have to find it in the mod folder. This part is the most difficult. I hope that it doesn't happen to you because I think it was a bug caused by the fact I had too many mods loaded.
One last thing, I am working on a mod but I need some help to write the code for a new type of work. Do you know anyone that can help me because I'm pretty much stuck.
And finally, I also write stories on wattpad (not about cult sim, I'm sorry), I need someone that can spread the word, also I think you could like the stories. Here's the link: https://www.wattpad.com/846383879-story-of-a-mask-prologue
I would love the support and the help for the mod. I hope I helped you and that I didn't upset you all for my small requests. Wish you a good day.

Thanks for the help. I've unfortunately found myself stuck once again.

I spoke to "our favorite dancer" about the level 4 lore and she just told me to talk to Teresa.
The Atlas I received also pointed me in this direction.

But when I summoned her and spoke to her about the secret histories 4, nothing happened. Am I missing something?

---

With regards to your mod I'm unfortunately not very familiar with the ins and outs of coding for making something like this. I am however very adept at graphic design so if you needed someone to make new follower cards or other artwork I'd be done to help in that way!

Hey,
By 'level 4 histories' do you mean the Inkling of the Beyond? Or the History of Hours? If its the Inkling of the Beyond, something must be wrong, but that interaction is working for me. If its the History of Hours, that one Teresa won't be able to help you with. The Atlas Hint for the History of Hours should not be pointing you towards Teresa, but towards a different Long. Just test this again to, and I'm getting the expected result on my system. I'd recommend making sure you're using the latest version, just cause I know the first couple versions had some bugs I had to fix.

--

As an aside, I am most certainly not a graphic designer, and if you wanted to make art for the mod, I'd happily accept it and add credit in all the relevant places. Any art I've added I'd be happy to have replaced with something better. If you're wanting to contribute at all, you can let me know and I can get in contact with you through a better platform than the Steam Forums; I don't check here too often.

I would love to help with the graphic design! I just sent you a friend request on steam. DM me and we can go from there to set up an alternative method of communication.

Good to hear from you, I'm glad you all enjoy it so much! I'd be thrilled if you translated it into Chinese! I'd simply ask you leave my name in there as the author, and it'd be great if you'd give me the download link when you finish as well as who I should credit for the translation, because I'd love to link it on the Nexus Mods page to make it easier to find.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but how on earth are you supposed to get the opportunity for advancement? Also I think I'm doing it wrong but the research mechanic spawning so many level 2-6 occult lore fragments is kinda...frustrating.

I'll get your translation linked to the mod page right away! I'll credit it to MOYU Hours, and I'll add you to the manifest file, too.
Thanks for noticing those bugs! I'll be updating the mod to 1.7 to patch those bugs, and to include one other recipe. I'll get details for you so you can more easily update the translation. It'd be best though to communicate directly instead of through the boards, so I'll send you a friend request on Steam.

And for Wolf Divided, you can translate it, too! I'm super happy you like my mods enough to translate them for me.

The second link to the mod download, Google Drive, has the version listed as 1.6. Is that a typo, or has it not been updated to version 1.7?

Is there also a ReadMe file to go with the mod describing how to install it? I did some looking around and from what I've read Frangiclave is stopped supporting their modding tool that some people used to easily install mods for Cultist Simulator.

I just missed updating the Google Drive file, thanks for pointing it out!
As for how to install mods, Cultist Simulator has native mod support. There's a folder where mods can be placed here; AppData\LocalLow\Weather Factory\Cultist Simulator\mods
Unfortunately, right now the native mod support is broken. A few weeks ago, one of the pre-launch Exile updates broke the mod loader, and most mods cause the table to always be empty. Its been reported to Weather Factory, and they're working on it. In the meantime, the Modding channel in the Cultist Simulator Discord has an unofficial patch to fix it, courtesy of another user, justastranger. If you're wanting to run mods right now, before the official fix, I recommend joining the Discord to get access to the patch files, since you'll need a new one every update.

Trying this mod out now, 2 tiny aesthetic issues within the writing job to report so far:

The displayed name of the deck that writing draws from is just authordeck and the description is also authordeck. I doubt most people click on that, but some do.

The triple-Passion recipe lacks a closing period, it just says "I will command the readers' feelings"

Both of these are very tiny, obviously. It's really good work from what I've seen thus far!

Thanks for pointing those out! To be honest, I didn't actually realise you could click on the decks, so I'll go add something there. I'm planning a couple updates to the mod already to make it work with my new mod I'm developing, so I'll correct these with my other changes once they're ready.

So, I've got the Lv 2 lore for Secret Histories Other, and I have secret histories cultists who are disciples--three named, and one pawn--but no matter how much I try to discuss occult business with any of them, they don't let me talk about the lore bit? AM I doing something wrong, or am I just being impatient?
