How do you get money?
I have chosen the physician legacy after I have died and I have been doing well so far but I keep running out of money. Should I keep the job at the institute or is there another more profitable method of income?

This isn't really a spoiler than a basic economic breakdown of the options to start - if you are new to the game, then I recommend first play-through attempts as the Inspector (far left icon when choosing) instead of the middle/physician. From my cash-flow/economics perspective of the three, the Inspector mode is "Easy" in terms of best net cash-flow to the point you can go 20+ coin and steadily afford to buy books, once you get things sorted out in initial gameplay. The Physician (my opinion - Normal difficulty) and Aspirant (Hard) are not stated as such, but cash flow becomes the most significant barrier to opening up more Lore, Rites, etc. I'm fairly new to the game and have played all the modes, to include the "minor victory" for the Inspector that is worth doing at least once - there's an Achievement for that although I mistakenly thought the minor victory would let me keep playing on past that point - it doesn't, game does end. If you can figure things out to that point to get the Minor Victory, then it's probably a good time to try out Physician at that point (or try for full victory w/Inspector).
Someone who's played the game a lot more, may have a different opinion, but that's my 2 cents.
Edit: And having seen a new path opened up after Inspector Minor Victory that removed Physician from my options, the other thing you can do is "Purge Save" if you want to default back to initial game as if you never beat it.

The Clerk Job at Glover and Glover (use reason with work to acquire it) has multiple tiers. The latter ones are quite profitable. Hard work or careful reading of the G&G job card and apropriate measures will allow you to level it up.
By running G&G on repeat you can generate a stockpile large enough to depend on until you can use your newly acquired skills to become filthy rich (i.e. carry you through the middlegame).
The G&G job decays over time so it occupies your work slot unless you are willing to risk a demotion. That's why I usually give it up in the lategame when I need work for different things and can sustain myself through talking, studying and exploring.

A position at the institute gives you a reliable source of income as it does not decay. The funds at 2/60sec are somewhat lower than G&G can be. This might slow you down moneywise but does not give you the hassle with promotion & decay.
You can get G&G while keeping the position. If you want, you can just try it out and always can go back to your medical job.

Institute is one of the better jobs out there - pays decently and does not need constant attention. It should be more than enough for early game.
Perhaps you should reconsider your spending habits instead. Are you buying books faster than you can read them? Do you constantly spend funds to counter Dread instead of getting rid of Restlessness before it decays? Do you set up Expeditions early and with poorly matching skillset on the members, so they have to try over and over and over again, dragging the expedition out and forcing you to heal them?

Once you've acquired some connections and learned enough lore, you can start doing comissions, which is a good way to get various currency. But you will be way past early game by the time you can rely on that.

Yeah I did dump like over 10+ coins on an expedition. I still don't understand how to properly organize and prepare for them. Also I may have spent a little too much on books XD

Click little icons on the bottom of expedition popup window. Those will tell you who you need to bring in to succeed.

i am kinda a new player, too. IMHO a good way to earn some extra cash is either a swindler (5 moth) or a bomb-maker (5 forge). Bomb maker can create up to 3 extra coins per mission and there won't be notority, swindler can also make some extra coins and when there is evidence against you he has a good chance to remove that evidence.

Having one of them is a good investment.

If you want to level up your reason the fortune teller is a good investment, her augury often gives erudition.

I was struggling in my last game to keep up with my spending until I realized I could sell some of the extra items I didn't plan to use as well as spirinta since I was producing so much of it (in order to repair mirrors). You get a LOTTA coins for selling your extra junk. ;)

Expenses out < money in. Physician is by far the easiest way to maintain a consistent cash flow. If you're low on money, just tone down your expenses for a little while.
