Subversion? Lore manipulation?

So I’ve seen a ton of stuff about lore manipulation and subversion, but I’ve got no idea what it means. Can someone please explain it for me? It’d be really nice to turn some of the 7 or 8 secret history lore I have at all times into some grail (my dedication) if I could.

Secret Histories can not be turned into any other lore types. Knock can subvert anything except Secret History. The remaining seven lore form a ring of subversion which I can not remember right now.

Basically there is a big circle where all the lore interconnects. One lore type subverts another and lets you upgrade a lore type without lore of the same type (but it has to be the same level). If you put a lore in the research icon, it will tell you what lore subverts it. Just click into the empty space to the right and it'll guide the way. Check some of the guides if you want a full diagram.

Lore subversion goes as follow:

Heart>Grail>Moth>Lantern>Forge>Edge>Winter>Heart

Knock can subvert any of those into Knock itself.

Secret Histories is not compatible with any of those. Instead they're used in the Explore verb to uncover expedeition sites.
